Dear Blizzard!
Title: Feedback: Marksmanship Hunter Rotational Friction in 12.1 – The Need for Lock & Load Integration
With the launch of Patch 12.1 and the departure of the “Shrapnel Shot” Mechanics / Talent, the Marksmanship Hunter rotation has become realy slow, clunky it introduced significant rotational friction, particularly in multi-target and AoE scenarios. But also in the Single Target Department. The current build feels clunky and unrewarding and realy punishing in any Movement Heavy Fight.
The Problem: Mechanical Disconnect and Rotational Dead Ends
Currently, casting Volley or Explosive Shot feels incredibly punishing to the natural flow of the Spec. Without the previous interactions, these buttons function as “rotational dead ends.”
-
Cast Time Overhead: Hard-casting 2.5 Second long Aimed Shots while trying to maintain pressure feels sluggish and actively fights against the fast-paced nature of the spec.
-
Focus Economy Disruptions: Spending focus and global cooldowns (GCDs) on Volley or Explosive Shot, only to be met with a slow, easily interrupted Aimed Shot cast, completely derails the momentum of our burst windows.
-
The Loss of Shrapnel Shot: Removing this mechanic without a baseline compensation has left a massive void in how MM Hunters transition between generating Trick Shots and spending Focus.
The Solution: Reimagine Lock & Load Synergies
To restore fluid gameplay and make Marksmanship feel playable and rewarding again, we need a baseline interaction that links our AoE setup to our primary damage dealers.
We propose the following adjustment to the talent tree or baseline abilities:
- The Change: Make Explosive Shot and Volley guarantee a 100% chance to trigger a Lock & Load proc, making the next Aimed Shot instant-cast and cost no Focus.
Why This Fix Works
-
Restores Rotational Flow: It rewards players for properly setting up their Dps windows by immediately granting them the mobility and speed of an instant Aimed Shot.
-
Mitigates Visual and Mechanical Clutter: MM Hunter relies heavily on positioning. Eliminating hard-casts during high-movement AoE encounters keeps the spec viable in modern encounter designs.
-
Preserves Class Identity: This change does not overbuff baseline numbers; it simply restores the mechanical synergy that MM players have historically relied on for a satisfying gameplay loop.
We love the core identity of Marksmanship, but the 12.1 iteration needs this rotational bridge to feel complete. Please consider restoring this vital synergy. The Hunter Community realy enjoys and likes “Lock&Load” Instant Aimedshot Proccs its what makes that Specc so desirable and loved by most of us..
