MW Monk - why it stopped being competitive PvP spec

MW Monk is an extremely fun spec but since BFA it stopped being truely competitive. Unless it’s toxic and hated itteration called Fistweaver is ovetuned of course.

What are MW problems:

  1. It became more and more vulnerable to CC. In recent expansions you could at least Taunt pets to break Traps for example. Not anymore because CC doesn’t break easily anymore. When MW got added it had some tools to deal with CC. You could use Cocoon while stunned and had Nimble Brew - literally a 2nd trinket.
  2. While vulnerable to CC if MW wants to contribute with CC or damage it has to push in risking getting CCed. You literally have to roll in to Paralyze → Cloud or Paralyze → Leg Sweep. While it can win you the game it can lose it as well. Many people might also remember Legion The Way of Crane talent. That had 45 sec CD and for 15 sec turned you into immune to roots and stuns damage dealer that healed with damage. While it made MW viable it might be a bit frustrating to the enemies.
  3. MW has to cast too much. In last few expansions it got few QoL tools to deal with this but still it’s hard to maintain sustain healing.

What I think should happen. Either bring back Cocoon in Stun. Do I think it will be broken in the current meta? Absolutely not. Priests can use their main CDs while stunned. Paladin can BoP while stunned. Cocoon isn’t even that strong at the moment. I don’t believe it would break the game but give a window for Monk to outplay RMX for example. This might be controversial but Nimble Brew might comeback in my opinion. Why? Many specs got things that in the past would be considered absolutely broken. Paladins with LoH ignoring dampening and healing reductions for example. MW as an unique spec having 2nd trinket might be fine. Maybe even make Nimble Brew or Trinket go on 1 min. CD after the other one was used but still.

I don’t want that old The Way of Crane to be back. Fistweaver is really annoying and frustrating to deal with.
