Mythic plus going into Shadowlands

Something needs to be done about casters in Mythic plus:
They are too heavily punished when moving (doing mechanics)
They require too long to wind up and when they do, they at most catch up in damage, not overtake. That is, if the combat is long enough. Casters will never compete in 5 second combats.
They have too long CD on interrupt compared to melee.
They offer utility (Bloodlust, slows, off-healing, hard CC, soulstones etc.) But that just doesn’t compete with raw numbers.

Can you imagine a world where a shadow priest could out burst a WW monk in 5 seconds? Capacitor totem being more useful than legsweep? Boomkin AoE bursting more than UH dk?

No, those classes are not designed to do that.

What could they bring that would be more important than stealthing past a pack, AoE bursting another down while they all are stunned? How can DoTs and filler casts that do no damage compete with burst?

Combat times aren’t really a problem, since they only go up with key level and DPS doesnt really matter on low keys. Many casters just have bad AOE period, others like Shadow and Ele do just as much as any melee if they actually get to cast.
Blizzard killed long range kiting and at the same time increased the amount of CCs and other mechanics on mobs significantly from Legion to BFA, and the amount of movement, stuns and interrupts needed for big pulls now really hurts casters.

Also Blizz, please never do unavoidable deathgrips (or any kind of unavoidable CC) again. I hate Freehold harpooners so much.
