Had a blast in the previous episodes, but they invited a Legion Eredar tonight. I suppose the power of friendship is invading all kind of circles recently.
Hello! While I can understand the frustration from an IC perspective, please allow me to elaborate OOC.
It has been some time now since the Eredar have been taken back by Velen, which would no doubt make the rounds by now. So, it goes to say that being skeptical is very valid IC but clearly some are considered good enough by the draenei to be taken in again.
The same courtesy will be extended at the Assembly, provided the Eredar are on their best behaviour… which they were, and they provided valuable information during the Assembly itself.
It is also not the first time demons were allowed in neutral areas; just take a look at the World’s End Tavern in Shattrath!
But it wasn’t a Shattrah demon, nor a Velen repentant. It was a LORD COMMANDER OF THE LEGION. And not restrained, nor chained. From an OOC perspective (because we can’t crash an event IC), the assembly is thus neutral with the Legion.
And being neutral to the Legion in public is not very smart, so OOCly too, there’s a lot to say.
Edit: I play with NightElf/Alliance/Harvest/Illidari, “Velen said so” is a poor excuse for the three factions when it comes to the Legion, however you look at it.
Something we could not know IC because our characters do not possess the power of reading TRP titles. For all we know, IC, they are simply demons who chose to atone.
The Assembly is open to all, even villains if they hide that which was clearly done as they were cooperative and did not even insult anyone.
Your issue is with Blizzard, not us, on this matter. Some man’ari were accepted back by Velen, and that is how it is in the lore even if we may disagree with it.
Because a LORD COMMANDER would not be recognized or seen by an Illidari? They are a demon, no one cares if Velen said so, it wasn’t in the Exodar. Taking them for interrogation was the next IC move to do, and once we learn IC they are with the Legion then… we kill everyone in the Assembly?
This is why I am saying this OOCly, having a Legion Eredar Commander of all army in your event, when not restrained, is dumb. Y’all are trying to -convince- players because one NPCs said so somewhere, it would apply to -everyone- on the whole of Azeroth, this makes no sense from either IC or OOC perspective, Azeroth is not a hive mind.
Velen is: Exodar Army of the Light.
Velen is not: Illidari, Black Harvest
Next time you invite a Legion Demon, chain them to at least pretend they are subjugated. It would be way smarter and more fun to play by bluffing.
By all means, if you wish to take this IC, then do so.
None of us clocked them as a Legion Commander, so we did not take action. We were skeptical and wary, but that is it.
We did not “invite” anyone, they come of their own accord.
Crashing an event and killing player characters are not good RP etiquette, else I would already take it IC, but it’s WoW, not hardcore mode in Fallout.
This is the reason why I left, and send a message here, IC was a no go .
Crashing a forum thread complaining that a player not in the thread is RP’ing a character you don’t like isn’t good etiquette either, btw.
“Legion bad” is controversial now? It’s not Blizzard to blame then.
You’re just posting to be mad at this point. This is an IC problem. Solve it through roleplay instead of whining at people who actually solve IC problems through roleplay.
Or, don’t attend, I’m not your dad, just don’t pretend like you have any sort of high ground or point to make here.
The number one complain of nearly every Illidari player is Demon PC roaming around and dodgelolling them. So, yeah, I wish I could ‘solve’ it IC, but it’s really in bad faith to imagine this is done this easily.
I like the Assembly, I wouldn’t point this up if I didn’t care. But if the Assembly doesn’t care then we can agree to disagree. Nothing is ‘crashed’.
It’s a public forum, if you’re triggered people post then don’t read. Don’t pretend like you have any sort of high ground or point to make here.
How would you know them to be Legion when it comes to your character, or anybody’s?
This will be my last post on the matter because I’m not a huge fan of derailing my own thread. I’d appreciate it if people can drop this as well.
If you believe there is an IC issue, I have no problem with you taking it IC as it promotes further roleplay for everyone involved. Even if it means you “crash” an Assembly, though I would like to mention that attacking people at a neutral meeting may have consequences for you, too.
The two people who walked off after seeing the Eredar, which I assume to be you and a friend, were not Illidari, though, so I am certainly curious to see how they managed to instantly know they were part of the Legion. Still, this may be something we can discover at a next Assembly… provided the Eredar show up again!
Stay tuned for some more Assembly updates later once the dust has settled… (spoiler alert: there was an assassination attempt!)
The real question is “Why anyone seeing a lone Man’ari NOT thinking they are Legion?”. And the answer is because players think because ‘Velen said so’ then everyone is onboard with it and it’s completely obvious and widely accepted. It’s OOC lore knowledge seeping IC and neutering everyone, because as you can see, if you point it out OOC you get accused of crashing the party.
Why everyone assumed they weren’t part of it? Everyone is friendly with Velen? Everyone went on Argus? Everyone visited Exodar and are completely fine with the ten Man’ari in hiding?
The truth is everyone is fine with Man’ari because doing the opposite leads to drama, try killing them IC and see the absolute drama that will ensue if they are not a close friend knowing you mean well.
Ah! Well, at least I have my answer here. Thank you!
Guess I am done here and if people wish to talk more about Man’ari, they can open another thread.
Cheers.
Thanks for an unexpectedly eventful assembly. Time to plot the revenge. (Contrary to how my character appears on the forum atm, I did not attend the assembly wearing a bicorne)
I broke my chair because Vasaar got stabbed.
And it was CINEMA
Regrettably, this is the modern thinking of today’s roleplayers. Some are looking for at least a small phrase in the lore to cling to and use it as an excuse for the appearance of their character. Others do not even bother. And only a third try roleplaying their characters as the game lore requires. The latter is in the minority.
The worst thing about this is that with such, the first two types set a terrible example for newcomers. There is little that can be done in this case. There is no point in trying to convince them this is wrong. They usually take any argument that challenges the choice of such characters in the roleplay with hostility. Their answer is the same: they pay money for a subscription, and it is not for us to judge them or dictate how they should roleplay.
Therefore, the best option is to simply ignore them. After all, any reaction to their character will only encourage them. Of course, it would be great for people to roleplay something more ordinary, or at least something that fits into the game’s lore. After all, what’s important in roleplay? The story. Especially when you create it.
