If private servers with a revenue literally thousands of percent less than Blizzard and dev teams 20 times smaller can install and utilise effective anti-cheat, I’m at an absolute loss to why Blizzard are either incapable or unwilling to do the same.
Putting a cap on instances categorically doesn’t solve the issue.
A) Botters will just create multiple accounts or just make farming characters on different realms
B) It does absolutely nothing to tackle botting in the open world
C) It places an arbitrary limit on legitimate players who want to boost
I’m not sure whether this is hilarious or sad.
Blizzard just don’t seem to have the faintest clue and it’s seriously embarrassing. The economy is utterly trashed by this point anyway. There are people sitting on tens of thousands of gold which will trivialise progression into TBC because farmers will be able to buy BIS gear and endless consumables on the auction house which will bump up prices to astronomical, ludicrous levels that are out of reach for regular players.
This whole debacle is sad and I’m glad I got out when I did.

Cancelled both accounts, this has nothing to do with bots, it is to push consumable prices up and then to provide the opportunity to say, oh we have a problem with gold sellers, but good news folks get your new wow tokens here. NO CHANGES!
Moving the goal posts 9 months in to the game is unacceptable and will not pay £20 a month to get shafted by greedy activision, this is not in the spirit of classic. GG on ruining the one game in your collection that is actually worth playing.

when i was farming 5 man’s solo, i often hit the 5 max in an hour. i sometimes play 10 hours. with multiple chars. it wont be possible to play anymore.
the 5 max is on character basis, realize the 30 max is account basis for a whole day ! and it does not start at 0.00 (am) and ends 23.59 (11.59 pm). if you play a lot on friday night and get locked … you will be locked on saturday … just as you wanted to have fun with your friends, guildies, etc.
please do not make this change. i am actually enjoying classic and now these things happen …
botters will not be hurt by this “solution”.

This is how NA players responded.
It feels like blizzard want their most popular game to end. This is not a good look, so many changes compared to the promises about staying as “truely” to the original classic.

sure i dont do 30 dungens every day, but a few days a week i surely do 30+ dungens when i farm

The primary botting spot is Stratholme. As far as I know, the most common botting script is doing ~1 hour resets. Since common sense is apparently gone missing, I suppose I have to remind you that a day is 24 hours. So the (BY FAR) most widespread bot script is not even affected by this, as 30 is greater than 24. Again, considering how far off the mark this change is, I find it necessary to remind you of these extremely simple truths.

Legitimate players can easily do 30 lockouts in a day. Penalizing actual players in order to be a mild nuisance to botters should not be an option. How did it even get to this point? Take it one step further and ban anybody who is online more than 6 hours in a row! Surely no human can do that.

Players are going to be locked out of raids, unintentionally, as they will have accidentally done 30 resets on their account before raid time. This is going to happen.

Binge-playing is common. If you work mon-fri, you may well be boosting your friends free and/or boosting for gold for >6 hours during the weekend.
Did I mention that this doesn’t impact bots at all?
By the way. This doesn’t impact bots. And even if it did… They’re literally flyhacking, you think an instance-lockout cap is going to stop them???..

Probably. I think it does that for every thread link you do though, no matter which.
Saying it like this doesn’t really help though… What if they go “Oh, so if we just put the limit to 30 instances per account instead of per server, then you’ll be happy? See, we listen to what you say.” and completely ignores everything else that’s bad about it?
It’s not about who does 30 a day it’s about how lazy and pointless this is. Boters have multiple accounts and they use stolen accounts as well. This will not stop them. Instead of actually working to fix the problem Blizzard has opted for a pointless “fix” that fixes nothing and can in actuality hurt real players.

It’s absolutely going to hurt real players. 30 instances is immediately reduced to 24, when you remove DMT, UBRS, BWL, MC, ZG and Onyxia’s lair. So boosting for 5 hours in the same 24 hour window as your raid(s) is a no-go.
In other words if you raid wednesday evening you cannot boost tuesday evening or thursday. And obviously not wednesday. But there’s 4 other days of the week, amirite? kekw
I sure hope you’re not raiding on 2 or - god forbid! - more characters.

So let me get this straight. I am paying to play a game but I cannot play the game how I want to play the game? I tend to level via dungeons. I mean, I doubt I will do 30 per day on one of my toons but it does worry me that if I am spamming dungeons on my alts, I wont be able to then raid on my level 60 alts. I so far have 3…
