My main is tier 4 but I do the most on her, my alts are mostly tier 3 who do very little and no dailies, they just go there kill rares for mounts.
I got the bulk of my tier from all the intro/unlock quests.

How about you fix the problems in there instead?
2 deaths due to not being able to do ANYTHING AT ALL because your servers are seizing up.
How about removing loss of stygia instead? Its a crap system only made to mess with people and slow them down. Make something good instead.
A solution to a problem that didn’t used to exist until they invented the problem so that we could be eternally grateful for their magnificent solving ingenuity.
Too little, too late. I still won’t do the Maw (especially not the world boss).
I mean, yeah, my alts are all tier 2 I think. I check the daily for equipment or crystals, and pick off any rares that happen to spawn while I’m there.
They won’t be getting safer Maw travel for a long time
Alot of folks I know are between 1-3 but they are already pretty sick of korthia/Maw/SL as a whole so even logging in is a challenge right now. I’m an extreme altoholic but korthia and maw has conveniently cured that, any alts I run are just levelling in land that time forgot areas to pick up old mogs I missed or just slow levels.
Well since those bugs have existed since the start and still haven’t been fixed - not gonna happen. Plus the GMs should be helping UNTIL they get fixed in that case. But, seeing as you’ve only been here since 2018 you seem to be lacking in knowing a lot about Blizzard and how support used to help with such things. Out of curiosity, what game did you come from before WoW or is this your first MMORPG?
Plus in the first place, losing a bunch of currency from other players making mistakes or intentionally and not you is bad. Losing currency because gee golly somehow their old servers did better for world bosses in zones is also bad.
Not to mention, people already hate being in the maw/korthia and all but it’s basically a requirement to do for EVERYONE is awful.
Why they rather simply don’t remove this dumb mechanic ? Is that hard for them to admit it was just annoying crap, bad idea which makes people upset ?
In fact, this is bad news because it’s clear that Blizzard doesn’t want to stop punishing players for their mistakes in open world even if the reason of death is lagged server.
One of mine is only tier 2 today, that skip really does cost you a lot!
I dunno tbh, my main’s only tier 3… I don’t go to Korthia daily though.
But it does just back up my feeling that by the time this new item is available to players, they’ll find it less useful because their days of dying in the Maw are behind them. Really should just turn off stygia loss entirely, I’ve seen nobody who has a kind word to say about it.
Counter argument: “Just stop dying in the maw”.
I do Korthia every day on my main, so just dailies and a sweep of the rares then I hunt for the rares that drop mounts in group finder.
On two alts that did the quest line through Ardenweald showdown with Sylvanas through to Korthia, they are on Tier 3 and only did all the intro quests and hunt rares that I can see in passing plus the ones I seek out for mounts daily.
The last alt that skipped and boy do I wish I hadn’t is very far behind the other two. Also only does the rares in passing and the ones I seek out for mounts daily.
The three alts all get their renown stuff done and I try to do an assault plus Torments of Torghast.
Just fix buggy content, or stop trolls getting people killed then…
I am pretty often in the maw. How often did I die so far in it? 1 time on this character.
It is not that hard. And barely I encounter bugs.
Good for you!
So that means no-one else does then?
It makes sense to me to have a penalty for dying. This is a game, not a fun fair.
What they should do however is have a Stygia bank you can deposit your main chunk, then you’d only lose what you’re carrying at the time. That would be the best compromise to an online game where there is the added chance of server disconnections.
You can blame exterior faults for any loss in game. What happens when you’re playing on the last level of an Mega Drive platformer and there’s a power cut? The solution isn’t making death not have a penalty. Loss as a result of something outside normal gameplay is just one of those tough ‘well that kind of thing just happens’.
I didn’t said that. I just said “it is not that hard”.
If you die in the maw, it is your fault. A game should punish you for making mistakes.
It’s not always the players fault though. That’s the point I am trying to make.
If you die because of bugs then the bugs should be fixed, not the mechanic removed altogether.
I disagree, you won’t change my mind. I have played this game for a long time.
It’s a bit late for adding Dark Souls mechanics… it just doesn’t work here.
