New player - couple of questions

back again with a couple of questions

1- quests cinematics " the old content" are still there ? are they auto playable as well ? and do i have to be in chromie time or it doesn’t matter

2- if you right click on the char pic on the top left you gonna find player vs player option
is it the same as warmode or what is the difference ?

3- since most of the realms are one side faction , in that case the open world pvp is dead ? it is not fun to not see the other faction
they talk about phasing and such things but I’m not sure about this

4- there is a NPC at the northern most part of the zone next to the road and is named something like Zidormi , Blizz puts this NPC in the game to allow players to toggle between the old and new versions of the zone that people still wanted to have access to.

is that true ?

Good, clear questions!

  1. “The old content” is still there. Except for when it isn’t. You should assume that old content is still there. Here are the two areas where it isn’t:
  • Kalimdor and EK Quests before Cataclysm. Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms were revamped in the Cataclysm expansion, and while there is a lot of the old content left, a lot has also been added and changed. However, the old content that was added in Cataclysm is still there.
  • Expansion endgame systems. Each expansion contains content for levelling through it, and then content for gearing up and getting stronger when you reach the max level of that expansion. The raids and dungeons are all still there from each expansion endgame, but generally the systems for getting more powerful aren’t. For example, in Legion, we got Artefact Weapons, and an Artefact Power system to charge them up and gain extra abilities with them. The Weapons are still there, and you can (and should!) get them, but Artefact Power does nothing now. Also removed are the Legendary Cloak from Pandaria, and the Legendary Ring from Draenor, with the questlines to get them.

You do not have to be in Chromie Time to see them, but ofc lower level players will need Chromie Time to get to some of them. Higher level players can go to any of them anytime.

Cinematics are still there, though it will probably be more convenient to go to YouTube to watch them, rather than get to the point in the game where you trigger them.

  1. No, it is not quite the same. Player vs Player Enable from your character portrait drop-down menu enables PvP, but AFAIK does not give you the buffs and boosts of War Mode.

  1. Open World PvP is dead …ish. Again, except when it isn’t. There are PvP quests every week, which mostly involve parties of five going to the spot and fighting it out over the objective. That can be fun - for a couple of minutes. But generally, you will see little actual PvP happening.

  1. Yes, Zidormi is there to toggle you between different phases of a zone, before and after something happened to change the zone. This does not apply to zones where the phasing changes with your quest progress, like Mount Hyjal, but only to zones where the whole zone changed for everybody when Something Big happaned in the story of the game. Some such zones are Darkshore/Darnassus, Arathi, Tirisfal/Undercity, Vale of Eternal Blosssoms, Theramore, Silithus, Blasted Lands.
Characters that are higher than the level at which the change was made will see Zidormi, and have the option to visit the older phase of the zone. Characters lower will see only the older phase, and will not see Zidormi. So, for example, low level Night Elves will srill see Darnassus and Darkhore as it was before the Burning of Teldrassil.
