After a year plus of waffling about, I finally took the plunge, and decided I’d make an EU account, so I could see the this side of things, hopefully get to know people, make friends, and roleplay connections.
I’ve been playing WoW since its original launch, but I’ve been on the Americas servers (primarily Wyrmrest Accord). The friends I used to play with have long since stopped playing and my time in WoW has largely been a solo misadventure since about Cataclysm into Mists.
I’ve seen differing opinions about whether the roleplay community is more Alliance-based or Horde, and I’m part of a couple of the AD discord servers, so I can keep an eye on events going on. I’ve also taken a look at your roleplay compendium, which I found beautifully constructed and very helpful.
Are there any other tips you might have for someone new to AD trying to find footing? I’ve always leaned more towards Horde, but I did make a couple of Alliance characters, and I’ve begun the process of levelling new characters and just hoping to see what the community is like.

As for factions, Alliance RP has open hubs (Stormwind is the largest, also Stromgarde and Darkshire) while Horde RP is more guild-based. There are also regular neutral events at set locations; for example, tonight is the Quel’Thalas market event https://www.argentarchives.org/node/285592 in new Silvermoon, which might be useful for forging connections if it makes sense for your character to be there IC. Seeing how your character is a blood elf, you might want to also join one or more of the Quel’Thalas Discord communities.
