What are your thoughts on the future of classic going forward?
You have
Sod.
I was playing a lot of wrath recently, but with no era and cata coming soon, switching to sod, until then maybe cyberpunk or baldur’s gate 3 to fill the void of wrath.
Not going to play any of them as it looks now.
I enjoyed Wrath more this time around than i did in retail. Prob because i could not raid as i wanted from mid Ulduar back then as i had IRL stuff i valued more.
A friend of mine is trying to get me to play era but vanilla wow with latest patch was never appealing for me and the economy is horrendus on era.
SoD, no interest as of now. Looks to much retail for me.
Cata, Not gona touch the dumpsterfire that Cata is.
Hardcore, to slow and lost interest at level 6.
It was about as bad as I had remembered. I really dislike how the gameplay changed. The raids were fine, Ulduar and ICC were fine. I didn’t get to play Ulduar back in the day as I quit before it was released (and returned for ICC), and I thought it was a really creative raid and the way you had to activate hard mode through mechanics in the raid was neat.
But outside of raiding I have felt no motivation to play, and I don’t expect this to change going forward. Why? Because there is no server community. Back in Cataclysm, thanks to Tol Barad, my server (Ravenholdt) had a very fun and active wpvp-scene with lots of banter on the official server forums. This type of innocent “play for fun” is completely gone. In Cata Classic, Tol Barad will be a daily zone for reputation grinds and nothing more. The only way they can fix this is by fixing the servers, and I don’t see them coming up with a solution anytime soon, since apparently “this is what the players wants”.
But at least Cata will have fun five man dungeons for a while, which is already better than WLK.
I feel they did things the wrong way, when i think of classic+, i thought it would build on the version of the game our current characters are in, Wrath of the Lich King.
We’re getting season of discovery which by the sound of it is temporary?
We have to start fresh and don’t know how long it will last or where our characters will end up. So why would i invest time into this?
They are branching out on the Nerubian lore and finally create underground cities to explore… which fits perfectly into the theme of Wotlk. Too bad they are doing it in retail.
They are launching Cataclysm which only redeeming features are transmogs, mass ress and mass summon.
I will play the first phase of cata to spend time with friends then probably leave for another game that values my time.
I never played past vanilla back in the day, but I enjoyed Wrath. Naxx wasn’t too exciting doing again, but the other raids were a good experience. Personally I’m looking forward to Cataclysm, and I think what they’re doing with SoD looks promising. Couldn’t care less about HC though.
On average Wrath was about as bad as I remember it.
Cata will slowly die, new seasons of Classic will die as well, since drip-feeding old content every few levels will not be enough. Then JAB will walk out onto a stage and say “I told you that you think you do…”
Season of Discovery is the classic+ people ask for.
“new” raids, class changes and alternative progression via max level caps.
Looks cool.
I’m currently not convinced of the “new” raids and I feel there might not be enough fluff in between the level caps. I mean I do have some ideas as to how to add more stuff to do in between them, but it would require a lot of extra work that Blizzard wouldn’t do.
I feel the class changes might be fun. Viable level 60 paladin tank when? Viable shaman tank?
EDIT: I just read the runes and it seems they are focused on simply giving all classes abilities from later expansions and abilities of other classes. BOOOOOOOORING!
I’ll be playing both Cata and SoD.
SoD looks like a fun casual gamewhere everything is OP and nothing should be taken seriously where Cataclysm I’ll be playing for raiding. Well, atleast for T11 and T12. Once DS hits, I’m gone.
Changing current dungeons to be raids and adding new class features are all things that are extra work that blizzard were slated not to be capable of doing for whatever reason.
It will never be enough for serial complainers and it’s fine, i understand your/their point of view in this regard, but at some point aren’t you going to … accept it and move on?
Excited for Cata.
Looking forward to minmax haste in Cata.
Yeah I’ll raidlog in Cata and play some SoD.
Nicolay of Brighwood is about to jump back in time for the second time, finally accepting he can not alter the timeline and prevent the return of Deathwing. However, this time around, he comes out of the temporal discombubulator Chronormu keeps stuffing him into with some interesting chronomantic restorative abilities. Because Arcane Mage healing is precisely the thing world needed but didn’t know they did.
For the first time in years, I am genuinly looking forward to a gaming experience. Classic plus with later expansion abilities for balance AND some new specs is like a dream come true. I am gonna temporal restore the fel out of some Warlock tank in BFD with a squad of boomies and rets as a dps, because frack yea!
Eh, not really. At best they will add a boss or three, which will be recolored and bigger copies of normal mobs, then add a few items to those bosses, which will not have any unique models or textures either. At level 25 there are barely any boss mechanics.
I take it from your comment you did not watch the live demo of the first 3 bosses in BFD10.
SoD for fun and chill on 30 November, then full Cata when it’s release. Can’t wait to see Ragnaros again and wipe over and over.
This time around i’ll kick that his behind all the way back to the elemental planes. I remember vividly how my guild back then couldn’t even kill rag hc in full dragonsoul hc gear.
Nope, trying not to get too hyped.
I’ll be playing Classic Era and SoD.
