Paladin Feedback

Hi, I play both ret and prot. Here is my feedback on few things in phase 4.

Paladin

  • Divine Steed dismounts on ability use. This probably isnt an oversight but a technical limitation but i’ll mention it just in case.
  • Inspiration Exemplar duration is too short. It can be increased to 5 minutes.
  • Seal of Martyr visual effect is too much. Every single attack becoming a “special attack” becomes old very fast. Instead of multiple normal attacks + special attacks from crusader strike we now have only one attack animation. I know some people might like it so it’d be really great if we had the option for both. A new seal of vengeance book that does the same damage/effect except no visual special attack would be great.
  • Greater Blessings is too short. Enhanced Blessings passive should also affect Greater Blessings.

Protection

  • (BUG) Mana gain from Hand of Reckoning forces paladin to stand up. I sat down to eat/drink get a random heal and my char stands up.
  • Mana issue while tanking 5 mans. I play a build with vindication so I do not have consecration. Even then i can have mana problems. I also use the 2% mana gain on block libram. I’m decently geared so i dont take too much damage. Maybe cut down the Avenger’s Shield mana cost?
  • This one is a pretty old issue. Holy Shield duration/cooldown is exactly the same. But since Defender’s Resolve lasts 15 seconds maybe Holy Shield’s duration can also be increased to 15 seconds.
  • Resistance gear. I know some people don’t think it is necessary to have crit immunity but I really hate getting critted as a tank. I can achieve the required defense atm but it leaves very little wiggle room. Maybe increase the defense we get from ring rune or Anticipation (defense talent)? This way we can gather resistance gear without giving up something 3 other tanks get passively.

Retribution

  • Divine Storm damage feels a bit low. I think it could use slight increase like 125% instead of 110%. Or 100% holy damage.
  • In 5 man dungeons I can run oom even without using consecration. Divine Storm mana cost can be reduced.
  • Repentance breaks on Righteous Vengeance damage. Repentance could be changed to not break on holy damage dots. Increased range/reduced cooldown would also be very welcome for this 31 ret PvP talent if possible.

I’ll bump your post on mana issues in solo and 5 man content.
In raid my mana bar is constantly full but the rest of the time it drops way too fast. Guarded by the Light is a nice rune but as exodin you need to run Art of War and in PvP (I don’t play tank so not sure if Sacred Shield is mandatory) I’d like to run Sacred Shield and not have to sacrifice half of my healing power for mana.
