People being banned for using the XP potion bug

Nobody said exploiting is fine, but the problem is that blizzard only banned ppl for exploiting the exp bug, when there were being bug exploited at the same time and they didn nothing, just because the bug that ppl exploited didn’t make them lose money from game services, it’s so simple. If any exploiter gets banned then i exploit and got banned i deserve it 100%, but if ppl is exploiting some bugs and they don’t get banned even when they break the entire economy of the game there’s no problem; rogues that pushed for free in S1 abusing the vanish-sap bug didn’t get banned either, the problem is blizzard doesn’t ban the exploiters, they only ban ppl who exploit a bug they’re not interested in being exploit cause they lose $$

Really simple it’s much the same as cheating save your using something that is not working correctly or in this case gave a massive advantage to a player over others who did things legitimately and thus is seen as unfair. So simply put do not do it no matter how tempting it might be to you even if you think you will not be noticed for it you will be caught out fairly certain they have a lot of tools that can see someone’s activity and how they play and those who exploit the known bugs are likely flagged up for investigation pretty fast.

That said Blizzard should really fix issues such as this so it takes away the temptation to do such a thing I personally do not ever touch anything that could exploited in the game to my advantage as I have no need or want to play the game that way.

I admire the honesty of the OP but we all said yes to terms and conditions of the game before play and they are really not up for debate. People complain about disparity and so on of punishments how some get longer than others but we all know the rules we all know we paid to have access to the game the account is not our property and we do not own our copies of the game if we seek to misuse or abuse things such as this in the game we should be expecting to be treated this way.

Simply put do not do it no matter how attractive the idea might be to level faster or whatever else because if you actually enjoy the game you could very well lose the right to play it. That’s not worth that risk at all.

I would personally ban such people minimum for a month.

All of you were well awared that something is very wrong with this potion. But you didn’t stop and proceed doing it on purpose. And now some of you are trying to defend themselves as if they didn’t know it was an exploit.

Exactly people here are only able to defend Bliz and blame the players, it has been repeated too many times leveling sucks. Too many levels, same old content, gaining nothing but only getting weaker in the process (116+ and expansion caps if you don’t have raid gear from the previous expansion are the biggest blows). yes they exploited but why? Why is nobody asking this question? If somebody starts robbing a life supplies store and only steals essentials products then you can jail them but for what? Why did he steal? Did he/she had a kid but thanks to the economy no more money to spend on food? Same question now is again with leveling, all Bliz did past 2 years with leveling was slowing it down. They didn’t improve or fixed it. They just slowed it down immensly. Fix leveling, I would have used it, let’s be fair: “So eh… grind through ages old content I know inside and out again for 20+ hours or boost my way through? Boost it is.”. Heck I said in anahor reply I have 4 chars who leveled by gathering in BfA, this is BfA. So sick of repeating the same on rails storylines I just gathered… Leveling is sick and the sympthons are players trying to find ways to skip it as much as they can without rewarding Bliz for a bad job by buying a boost. These included:

-Full looms
-Enchanting it
-XP pots (MoP and Winter Veil)
-Boosting
-RAF.

I hate traveling to work forcing me to walk it still won’t make enjoy it, yet here Bliz thinks it does.

If its fishy dont do it, if somebody tells you silly things which are out of the norm. dont do it, its almost as simple as online internet safety with passwords but instead of internet safety its common sense, I’ve played for most of wow’s life time and never been tempted to use any exploits and fail to see how people are so greedy/oblivious too it.

Anyone who had infomed themselves about the history of exploiting would know that Blizzard are not at all consistent about “stuff like this”.

Sometimes they just let it go and patch the bug. Sometimes they say nothing for days, allowing people to continue, and then erupt in a clusterbomb of penalties.

Sometimes things are ruled clever use of game mechanics, and sometimes exploits - after the fact.

Yeah, the stack thing was a giveaway that it wasn’t intended, so I assume the vast majority knew they were dancing on the edge, but there was no certainty about which way Blizzard would react this time, especially with the Allied Races and the Free Weekend being incentives for people to come back.

Reminds me of the time when guilds had to be levelled up. People were buying apples in Elwynn Forest to the repeatable quest guy to power level it. I heard about it at the time and didn’t do it… I was very surprised to see that Blizz allowed people to keep their level 25 guilds

“If somebody starts robbing a life supplies store and only steals essentials products then you can jail them but for what? Why did he steal? Some people on this forum have ridiculously easy lives, I see. This isn’t the first comment equating cheating in a video game with comitting a crime just to stay alive.

I don’t care whether Blizzard punishes the cheaters or not because they honestly have little to no effect on my enjoyment of the game but I do strongly believe that if someone gets THIS bent out of shape about an in-game suspension as to compare it to fighting for survival then they should immediately take a break from WoW. Possibly from all games.

oh stop it! Those people are pillars of our society. They punish crime in any shape or form and they make sure you are safe!

On a serious note tho I am kinda jealous of them. People like dottie, radium or other “geniuses”. Their lives have to be so simple and peaceful. Imagine having 8 hours a day to spend on wow forums correcting people XD get a life

Blizzard have never been Lax about pure exploiting with intent behind it. Since you had to tamper to get a potion to work a different way then intended, you are thus fully aware of this bug. Just like killing Ivus 100+ times made you fully aware his loot restriction was bugged.

Good faith bug exploiting ain’t the same thing. If you killed Ivus 2-3 times not realising he still granted you loot/loot chance for every try. You used a bug in good faith and it won’t be a punishable offence.

Same thing with the alchemy cauldron bug for all intents and purposes people acctually thought it was meant to be clickable multiple times. There was no tampering needed to do that bug at all, hence it’s a fault at blizzards part. There for no bans/suspensions was issued. Given the nature of the bug, roll backs also was impossible since people sold and used the items provided.

You always have to seperate bugs between those you got to tamper with and those who just happends. Tamper with an item to make it work not as it was intended are a Exploit, which break the ToU/ToS.

Spam killing a raid boss for loot and residuum for hours knowing well enought it is a bug are also considered a Exploit considering every boss have a lock out. This also breaks the ToU/ToS.

It’s simple stuff if you bother to even read the ToU/ToS when you click agree to not breach this rules.

Thats about what you seem to be doing since you got banned. You’ve become what you mock.
They should indeed get a life, they should spend that time watching footie or getting ratfaced in clubs like real pillars of our society, rite?

The bans were from 2 days to 31 days max across the board. The streamer preach got 31 days others had a 2 day ban. Its been covered on NA and look on Twitch or You tube.
