Pet peeves: The return (Part 9)

Actually, where did they go? There’s a note from Felassan, so the writers didn’t forget they existed.

They just weren’t written in. They’re mentioned as recently as the Tevinter Nights short stories, but the concept was apparently entirely cut from Veilguard. Even when Solas talks about (early spoilers) his contingency against bringing down the Veil, he just mentions spirits, not elves.

I don’t wanna get into the idea of rewriting the game (that’s what my fanfic is for) but I do think it would’ve given us a bit more grounding if Act 1 had been working to stop Solas and his agents, and it ends with the culmination of his ritual, before kicking off Act 2+3 against the Evanuris.

I know it’s a significant shift in power level from Arcane, and I don’t know anything much else about Runeterra lore…

But I do find myself drawn to any sufficiently bad-A type who goes “This is not a worthy otherworld. I was promised eternal glory! Fine. I will refuse to fade away and make it everyone else’s problem.”

To no one’s surprise, Rogue Trader’s second DLC has been delayed to “spring 2025”. This was expected, since Void Shadows had been delayed before it’s release, so Lex Imperialis coming out in December 2024 was kind of not gonna happen.

Probably for the best. Plenty of other stuff to play in the meantime…

I love how Mr. Typhon thinks he’s never eating again.

Very former stray cat behaviour.

Also love picking him up and he’s just; brr brr brr brr

Got the Veilguard (concept) art book and there’s so much good stuff in there. I really, really wonder what happened that they changed away from their initial plans during and post Inquisition, and during the ‘Joplin’ phase of the project. It’s such a massive shift from something that would’ve been so exciting and good (at least conceptually!) that it really boggles the mind. What’s wrong at Bioware, man?

what did they say :ear:

ill have to find the article again but it ultimately rounds up to: Bioware was a very crunch-happy company to work for, not big on employee demands, ideas constantly being tossed out and what was greenlit was watered down heavily, massively pushing for greater efforts in the cash store vs actual content + making cuts in the content where they could to save money. veilguard was very much their hail mary.

Youtube is nagging me with popups advertising subscription. In Russian for some reason, even though my language is set to English and my IP isn’t Russian.

That’s stage 3 of en:poop:tification. Stage 1 was setting up paid services and stage 2 was making use of the platform inconvenient without them (by interrupting videos with ads). Stage 3 is pestering people with ads for the paid services themselves. What do you mean you dare use our allegedly free service for free?

I blocked the popup, of course.

Weird quirk of Dragon Age history: We know the names of the Wardens that ended the Second and Fourth Blights (Corin, Garahel) and the Fifth (we were there, we did that, it was us), but not the First and Third.

The First being missing makes a little bit more sense, since it’s the oldest in history and also the first one, so maybe they hadn’t worked out all the kinks on the whole slaying archdemons thing yet, but the Third being missing when we have 2+4 just stood out.

Not really a “plothole” or a “gotcha”, just a thing I noticed.

I have reached the final month of Metaphor: Refantazio.

What a cool game. Unfortunately I am awful at the combat and there are now several optional hard dungeons and I feel I am going to get slapped about. I am also underlevelled and they have just thrown advanced jobs for every character at me that I would have to grind to be able to unlock and I don’t know that I have it in me.

The story reveals have been fascinating for the last few hours of gameplay though. Really great writing.

Speaking of Runeterra, I want whatever Viktor or Warrick have going on.

I am Very Tired™ of being physically run down, poor breathing, aching.
And my office at work being Just Me, punching well above my paygrade and with minimal support, is not helping.

Let me have bio-mech magic or F a n g s darn it all…
