Please Enable Face Scan Age Verification with YOTI

Hello everyone…

The 3 options we UK residence have too verify our age are not good enough…. from what i’ve read, there can be a 4th option… it just needs too be enabled by Blizzard in the Yoti’s API agreement…

Myself and more than likely 99% of UK players, have no intention of giving a third party company “Driving Licences, PassPorts & Credit Cards”… the 3rd option, Mobile Number, which is the only one I am willing too use, falls for people who have a “MVNO” (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) and are not on a contract…

lol… I’m not starting a Mobile Contract just too be unmuted in WoW Global Chat…

To make matters worse, my account is the best part of 20 years old… I’ve been paying a monthly subscription via CC for two decades, yet none of that account history counts for anything under this system.

The facial age estimation feature from YOTI is already used by XBox, Discord and Epic Games… so why Blizzard decided too NOT tick the 4th option is beyond me…

So Blizzard, would you be soo kind and enable the Face Scan option for UK players… Thank You.

until then…. I’ll just have too get use too a Silent Global Chat :frowning:

It would be nice to have an option that does not require handing over actual personal data.

I was forced to go with the CC option as the phone would not verify, even though it’s on contract and has all adult options enabled.

I would never use a facescan either - they can easily manipulate that with AI. Fortunately my phone would verify but I’m not exactly thrilled at any of the options.

How does a CC prove anything? Kids been using their parents’ CCs, often without asking, since the dawn of time. :joy:

How do you verify YOUR identity with someone else’s credit card?

It’s my card in my name.

However I don’t really want to give out CC details, my mobile number and certainly don’t want to show my driving licence with ALL my sensitive information on it.

You’d be very surprised just how many 3rd parties have so much information on you it would make your head spin.

I still remember my dad’s “boss” as a self-employed taxi driver being investigated by the HMRC. Despite his best efforts to keep a lot of his stuff private the breakdown they sent him in evidence to his dodgy tax filings was full of stuff he never thought in a million years they would find out or even have.

And this was over twenty years ago.

And this isn’t really Blizzard you should be railing at.

You should be railing at the people who brought this ridiculous “big brother” in the first place.

That would be the Government.

I just got the email this evening. I used my credit card. Since I’m in the UK there’s legal protections if they did get a hold of my CC details.

It actually worked first time, I didn’t have to enter any more info than I would making a purchase. I guess my credit card must have a over 18 flag when I make purchases on it. Interesting.

Note: my battle.net info and the CC info are the same!

Aye… I know it’s not Blizzards fault… I know they needed too implement it quick before they get a massive fine…

…but still, the 4th option “Face Scan” included would of been nice :slightly_smiling_face:

My partner has been told guild chat will be also muted if he doesn’t verify.

LFG and LFR will still work it’s just chat that won’t.

I dislike Face Scan.

Last time I used it my phone sent an alert to the FBI Ten Most Wanted.

Granted it was “Wanted. Extremely nice looking people” but still.

Its hard sometimes veing so fabulous.

(In factvso fabulous even my typoes are fabulous)
