I’m concerned about Paladin survivability after the proposed changes. The spec is losing its cool down reduction talents which may leave it without the necessary defensives to survive.
Currently, our basic mitigation provided by mastery, and shield of the righteous are usually not enough to survive in competitive content and must be supplemented by our cool downs.
If you are determined to make these changes to our talents, I suggest compensating by decreasing the cool down of our remaining defensives eg. Ardent Defender from 1.4 minute to 1 minute, or by increasing the mitigation provided by mastery and shield of the righteous.
Ye we lost a lot but likely gonna change 7 times over since it’s super early alpha, Would prefer them buffing passive mitigation though over lower cds, especially mastery since the current tuning on alpha makes reaching 100% spell block unfeasable(you need 47.5% mastery to reach it, that’s just too much). Bring back the base +20% block chance from holy shield, buff sotr to also provide a small dr instead of just armor(5-10%). 1min AD would be preferable but i think with 2 charges of wall and gift of the valkyr still providing a bit of CDR we should be able to manage mega busters. Just need to be sufficiently tanky inbetween.
This 100%. I love paladins and tanks, but atm prot paladin feels so squishy compared to others. It is such a huge turn off to me. Tank should feel reasonably tanky even without cooldowns.
One more wish for Midnight for me would be Blessed Hammers rework. It is core spell but it feels so bad to press…
I don’t get BH dislike at all, it’s the most convenient source of HoPo that lets you have 3 hopo pre pull if you want, lets you heal while doing out of melee range mechanics in raid(sprocketmonger tank mechanic). And currently does tons of aoe via 2p + blessed assurance.
I’d rather them keep BH vs HotR as it is right now, maybe make HotR less terrible in keys so you guys have a real choice there.
being able to do all ability from range is one of the biggest + prot has
as im being stuck as add tank on mythic forge, i just target the boss instead of the add, only dmg im missing out on is melee swings
this does give me handicap to playing other tanks as im missing freedom prot has ![]()
about the survivabilty, i raid together with a protwarrior and yea i feel sad if i compare my self to him, i need to do 90% + logs to keep up withhim on dmg, this is more a issue with Fractillus. and next to Protwarrior own healing im usaly 2nd on healing him with absorb, as our healer dont touch , wich show the big gap between warrior and paladin, and were i usaly have 2 healer keeping a eye on me
afther RTWF ended i hope we would get a single target dps inc and a buff to defensive, but didnt, guess being a support tank is our place,
im not expecting a buff this expac anymore, only hope is next expac we have better surviabilty and on pair with other tanks and this isnt only for protpala but all tanks,
