PTR Spoiler/Discussion Thread (Part 1)

Allied races were just a BFA feature, judging from how quickly the concept was dumped after that expansion. But considering that they’re the only feature from BFA that wasn’t critically panned, I can see Blizzard bringing allied races back.

The only good content that Blizzard has put out since Legion has been the character customisation. If they keep this up, in a couple of expansions there will be no one left to play the game but roleplayers and transmog addicts.

I have to say i really liked the Character Custom stuff they added since Legion. And the Shadowlands Prepatch was pretty good in that case.
I do recall them saying there will be more of that during Shadowlands life time but…they maybe backtracked on that too.
Maybe when Zoval makes the world new in 10.0 (as in second “Cataclysm”) we have a bunch of new Allied Races and Customisation stuff once we finally get out of the Afterlife.

Hmmm Transmog addicts and roleplayers as the only population that is both interesting and kinda scary how that would play out.
Love your mog by the way

There’s still UI space for two-per-faction…and four covenants…woah…

ah yes the UI space for two per faction still annoys me to this day.
A friend of mine (Niko) has this theory about how 8.3.5 could have introduced us to the last set of Allied Races…but it got canned in favour to do 9.0 early.

hahaha

Yeah, I’m still convinced they’re stubborn enough to engage in that much self harm.

That is a myth. I don’t know why it persists to this day, but there wasn’t a kerfuffle over Starcraft with GW. There was a joke by Blizzard about how they were glad GW didn’t sue them.

That’s it.

There wasn’t any kerfuffle. WC1 was pitched to be a Warhammer Fantasy game and they got turned down, so it became Warcraft Orcs and Humans.

GW being litigious in the extreme is a thing, yeah, but they only go for targets weaker than them because they are, legally speaking, bullies. GW trying to square off with Acti-Blizz is less like David vs Goliath and more like a speck of dust vs an industrial fan.

Are there any other sort? The only thing wowhead is good for is data mining. All their lore takes and speculation is absolute garbo.

I’d honestly rather roll in the festering feces of the story forums takes than wowheads.

which honestly? is cringe.

i’m becoming more and more anti-datamining, it just causes loads of expectations that’ll never come true and ensures that whatever lackluster story they write will never be surprising

I agree actually.

having played FF14 near constantly for over a year now, I’m content with the expac/patches being a surprise for the most part

I just care more for weapon models and stuff for transmog than actual npcs and narrative related stuff.

Not that there’s been anything that caught my eye since Legion. :disappointed:

You’re not wrong. I miss the wonder of exploring things for myself.

Cut content made worse by shattered expectations for sure. Also, we learn all the stuff they made and hid or made unavaliable for players.

We don’t need leaks to be tired of the same old predictable story beats.

I got that and undersea usurper while they were current.

And I regret it, honestly. It’s absurd, the ridiculous grinds and RNG we just ended up taking for granted because we were used to it.

If they want to fix this game for real, one necessary change is to start respecting the player’s time.

Imo the :crab: meta achievement wasn’t even that bad compared to the Mecha-done one. Collecting all the vinyl tapes in Mechagon has to be the worst achievement for any meta I’ve ever had to do.

But yes you’re correct regarding the grinds and RNG.

I do not however regret my crab mount tho, BfA may have been whack but the :crab: is eternally beautiful

I assume you got lucky with the Banescale spawn, because I didn’t, and that was the absolute opposite of fun.

Those vinyl tapes were the easiest tbf… I lucked out.

Now those DARN aventurer augment and OOX schematic however :dagger:

I just went to Mechagon for the flying mount… The entire place screamed “Grind and pain.”

Perhaps. But when it spawns you at least know you will get it. With the Vinyl’s and all the other billion items you needed for Mechagon, it was not the case.

Banescale was however one of the last things I needed for mr. :crab: and I do recall it taking quite long.

yeah that sums up this game pretty well
