There is a good amount of misogyny surrounding Sylvanas whereas Garrosh being similar is regarded as cool + badass + justified etc. The whole simping for Sylvanas / Nathanos simp etc takes you down that rabbit hole. You can generally spot who hates Sylvanas because they’re a ‘whiny egirl thot’ vs actually having critique.
I’m recalling that one frequent Tauren DK who used to post here moaning about Sylvanas loads back in the day, and then went on a big rant about women and SJW’s in the general section at one point.

The difference isn’t hard to spot. There’s a big fat line separating those who critique her character arch (Sylvanas fans included) and those who post rape rule 34.
I’m sick of this. I’m sick of them crapping on Baine over and over and over! Why can’t they (REDACTED) make him competent and actually get stuff done? Would it kill them to show Baine as a badass for once? Even in the freaking heritage quest, where he could have been given some balls and deliver justice for his people, they wasted the opportunity because “balance, my son”. (REDACTED) useless writers!
Every opportunity they had to make Baine shine was scrapped, from his participation in defense of the Mulgore Gate in Cata, to his involvement in the Highmountain storyline. What’s with their (REDACTED) FETISH for constantly portraying Baine as a spineless garbage? He can be peaceful. He can be moral and good. But god damn it, AT LEAST MAKE HIM SHOW SOME (REDACTED) COMPETENCE!!!

One day they’ll move out of 2016 and find something new. I wonder what it’ll be.
It was necessary for The Plan™. We will find out what The Plan™ is at the same time we find out why the Arbiter was disabled.
It doesn’t help that we’ve had no reason to believe Sylvanas (or indeed Uther) was anything other than a complete person/soul prior to Shadowlands. Sylvanas’ turn from Ranger General to Banshee Queen was explained as being a) a result of her trauma b) the desperate situation she and the other Forsaken found themselves in and c) because of general undead negative vibes that hit everyone. Nothing particularly supernatural, save the last one, and even that was fairly ‘mundane’ as far as WoW’s setting goes.
She didn’t appear to be ‘special’ in personality or attitude compared to any other Forsaken, she didn’t appear any more ‘broken’ than any other Forsaken.
Nor did Uther in his TBC, Wrath, or Legion appearances appear to be anything other than the exact Uther we would have expected from his WC3 appearance. Personality wise they were indistinguishable.
So what does being a “partial”/“fractured” soul even mean? We don’t know. Possibly even nothing at all.
This is especially weird because of their bizarre framing of all the AU timeline souls and ropes etc. Surely everyone in Shadowlands should be experiencing these weird disconnects on a regular basis as more and more of their dead souls rejoin the main ‘rope’.
It’s hard to find credibility in a plotpoint as a development when their own universe sets this up happening to everyone, constantly, and yet no one seems to notice.

Baine has never been an interesting character. Not in the RTS. Not in the base game. He’s a glorified NPC. Doesn’t even come close to Sylvanas.

If only they’d stuck with the old lore that she was always a cold, callous person who saw people as Arrows In Her Quiver to be spent long before being banshee’d, pragmatically sacrificing farstrider units to delay Arthas’ advance.

Sylvanas’ villain arch unfortunately appeared at the same time as the whole Twitch E-Girl Simp culture, making the whole discussion incredibly more toxic than it should have been.
No, Baine was hit with Frostmourne off-screen in WotLK so he just needs to get his divided souls joined back up.
