PvP is not fun

I came back to WoW approximately a month ago. I first starded playing Cata and enjoyed the PvP thouroughly but noticed that not much else was going on there. I then got invited into a friends guild on SoD and have been having a blast raiding and playing with them. I have to say I love every aspect of the PvE and its gearing experience in SoD - I just want more of it.

On the other hand, I used to be a PvPer, and seeing how fun each class has become to play I though that the PvP experience has to be amazing in SoD. It is not. I’d like to point out a few things that I personally think make people less likely to play PvP or BGs and which has soured my taste.

Class imbalance.
Classes shouldn’t be perfectly balanced, and it’s fine if some classes are more strong than others, but to a certain extent. The degree to which we now have gimmick specs is through the roof, and if you don’t play with a healer your range of options is limited when encountering a boomkin, hunter or rogue. Having someone chase after you doing 3k crits with killshot because the only mistake you did was being in their LoS is not very fun. And that is how I have to play as a mage/lock; don’t LoS the hunter. That killshot doesn’t get affected by deadzone means the only counter is to hopefully get a deep in a global before him. It’s stupid game design. I don’t mind hunters doing tons of damage, but put a limit on the instan whenever you want death button.

When it comes to rogues I have to say that I’m not too disturbed with them. The issue with them is rather that the PvP trinket is locked behind the event in StV, and event which no one does. When a rogue opens on my lock I just instantly go and get a drink, because I will be dead in the stunlock.

When it comes to starfall I fell that it, as with killshot, is an instant death button that doesn’t reward any kind of set up and instantly kills everyone around if you don’t have a healer. Although I’d say that starfall is to prefer because you at least can stun the boomkin.

The greatest issue is however not the class balance in of itself. It is that the game disproportionaly rewards people who have had the same main since the start of SoD and have been able to get all the necessary pieces. Gearing an alt in PvP is horrendous. As an ally it seems like I always face a premade, which would be fine if alliance morale didn’t get shattered so easily. Rather the issue is that it seems only premades que and because of the gear difference there’s nothing we can do. I think that this could be solved by making some kind of PvP gear easier to obtain. I don’t want people to feel their grind to 14 was for naught, but put make some kind of gear that increase your survivability not be locked behind a months grind. Give reals for playing BGs and make a gear-set appropriate for PvP. Come out with new PvP sets as you give out new for PvE as well.

These are some of the points I would like to point out that at least for me makes the PvP much less enjoyable than it could be. If you disagree feel free to say why, and if there’s something I missed please add it.

Peace

Let’s be real—they’ve made it crystal clear they don’t care about PvP balance or development. Hunters, Boomkins, and Tank Shamans are still completely broken, and honestly, they needed a rework four months ago. After the Paladin nerfs, playing the class feels totally busted now—like, why even try? That’s why I’m done wasting time here. I jumped back to Retail, where actual PvP still exists, and at least the classes don’t feel like they’re held together by duct tape. If you want competitive fights and skill over raw power, that’s where it’s at right now. Just my two copper plates.

I love sod and PVP is my thing, gives me a carrot on a stick to get gear and wreck in BGs - but even with good gear u get 2 shotted by paladins and hunters.

The pvp truly is Trash in SOD - and its a shame because the game has been really good other then that

Brother if you wana pvp go 30 into resto for 5/5 purification and 21 into elly for the crit 1/1 crit dmg boost and stack tank gear with defense and a good shield your whole rotation for pvp is feral spirits flameshock riptide instant lava burst and if you get super low make a macro for nature swiftnes and healing wave with the shoulder enchant from zg 5 set
And learn to use grounding and decoy totem

Fyi shield mastery rune gives you 4 spell powe for each point of def so if you’re crying that shaman is weak listen to the advice i gave u and l2p

good point - the que times are still long though

That’s because every bg is full only with paladins shamans locks boomies mages and the occasional phys dmg dealer.
Who would want to play a pvp game where if you arent a paladin shaman dudu or wlock you can’t pvp?
Those classes got it all self heals cc’s utility tankyness and dmg higher then the so called op killshot which crits for 1.8k on cloth but paladins insist that they can be kited while using a combat mount divine shield and dealing 6k holy dmg in 1 gcd!?

So 6k dmg for a paladin in 1 gcd isn’t high enough and needs buffs but 1.8k killshot crit that hits for 600 without it is op!?

yeah its not fun for people to die in 2 GCDs

Not even 2 the paladins are blatantly twice as op as anyone in all their specs

Lol, I didn’t expect anyone to defend hunters. Three kill shots in three seconds, or a 3k multishot — awesome.

In what dream have u seen a 3k multishot
1.8k crits is too much for you though when u got 3k hp in raid gear i do agree

Got hit by a 3k multishot from a hunter in Arathi Basin like an hour ago. I have pvp gear.

Must be the new 6 set with bis bow i guess but rn Nahmon feeling weak mon Nahmon has 1 set xd

I honestly had pretty high hopes for SoD PvP back in p1. Sure Priests and Hunters were broken, but at least the former was mostly because of their healing and the latter got beaten into submission. The premade queue changes were nice and I legitimately had a lot of fun despite my spec being awful.

Then P2 came out and Shamans were allowed to run around with more AP/SP at level 40 than a T4 geared level 70 TBC character and it sorta just died. All pretense and consideration for PvP immediately went out the window and the game devolved into Shaman/Boomkin/Spriest/Ret warfare.

Shame, too. Bloodmoon was really fun more often than not.

Time to do something, PVP needs some dev love!

Devs said they don’t balance for pvp while pulling a new tier set and 7 patches buffs to shockadin making him 1 shot everyone while having the best kit in the game
But as i said “devs said they don’t balance pvp”

Love how you used plural. The only dev that’s prob “working” on SoD at this point is probably only aggrand. It’s his playground, which explains the 2nd part too since he’s playing pala and that’s not a “blizz’s favorite class” assumption or smt. He has posted his char on twitter b4.

Sad thing is, at this point it’s getting away from class favoritism or phase fotm (guess they had to have a good phase too, like many specs/build did b4). It gets near unethical abuse of power.
His handling of the whole thing also creates even bigger problems. At this point i’m almost certain that he intentionally left scarlet enclave as a last raid (eventho we were given a scarlet raid hints and mentions few phases ago) so he can have his ashbringer on the last phase which will go on until servers die or smt. And that version of ashbringer is just problematic. A hunter was soloing 3 ppl yesterday and i’m not talking about 1 by 1. Our lives were going down almost simultaneously and i’m having almost 7.2k hp without fortitude while wearing plate…
That’s why i said it’s his playground now, he wanted retris/shockadins to be good and have his cute toy. Sadly that toy is devastating on others’ hands. And that’s only 1 part of what’s wrong with pvp…

You want fun? Look no further to tank specs in PvP and the ranged players, the true cancer of PvP. Ret or any melee has 0 on em, very cool gameplay for melee players to get insta gibbed the micro second they exist. Like the power differencial between any melee and ranged is INSANE. Melee do one thing, be annoying, ranged can choose from 20 things and still be better then melee, SO COOL. To put this in perspective, melee could sit ontop of you as caster and do 0 damage, if a cast from caster goes off, boom you are dead.

so rich coming from a seal twister.

but we all can just came outside BWL/blackrock mountain eh?

Bruh is gaslighting himself to think paladins are weak xd, yo dumbo we aren’t blind we can see the dmg logs…
keep thinking paladin is the worst dps tho classic Andy
