I haven’t played classic pvp in a long while and considering pvp again in classic fresh after a friend told me that in a recent patch the ranking system has changed.
So i looked it up, finding out that it’s a cap at 500k honor per week, there is no decay in ranking, and if i understand correctly, now you are not affected by the amount other players play. Correct?
And then my question is, which I can’t find specifics on (or I’m missing it), does this mean that there is no minimum per week on how much I have to play in order to progress the rank? For example: I’m rank 10, and this week i only have time to play 4 BG’s. Will this week make any progress towards rank 11?
I ranked 6 months ago to r14 on paladin in era firemaw eu, doing mainly solo queue alterac valley.
I used ranker addon which I recommend you to get, it tells you exactly how much honor you need each week to progress. I did reached maximum honor threshold every week, I think fastest way was around 2 and half months something like ~10 weeks and if I remember correctly, from rank 0 to 14, there were 1 or 2 weeks towards the end where you needed to reach 500k if you want to reach r14 sooner (like few weeks sooner), however I think ~418k was minimum needed to progress at higher ranks from either 11 or 12.
I believe it was at rank 12 or 13 that you needed somewhere around ~418k honor to get minimal progress (500k gives you more progress), which means if you reach 400k honor instead ~418k your honor progress will not go up. It will be same as if you would have earned 0 honor that week.
So if you are rank 10 and you played 4 battlegrounds and you didn’t earned minimum amount of honor needed to progress, you will not gain progress towards rank 11, it doesn’t work like experience bar, there are several thresholds each week you need to reach in order to progress. However lucky for you I believe queue times will be short in fresh, everyone will rank, including myself probably, if you can have time to play ~4-5 hours pvp each day you will eventually get rank 14. If you couldn’t play for few days then you might need to compensate and play all day during weekend, or possibly join premade and win bunch of WSG or Arathi once it comes out later.
Thank you very much for filling answers! Now I know what I have to deal with, and consider if I’m gonna dive in
I ll be honest - no.
The way ranking works: you need to get certain amount of honor to reach a certain percentage breaking point.
To show you how exactly it works:
(I DONT give here correct numbers, just imaginable example)
Between r10 and r11 f.e. (Again just numbers I created about close to how it works, those numbers aren’t correct) there are caps of r10 30%, r10 50%, r10 70%.
Let’s pretend to get r10 30% you need to farm 110k honor. If you don’t get AT LEAST that amount of honor you will get r10 zero next week.
Same with other % caps. You actually need to farm at least 120-200k honor each week to progress past r10.
And believe me 4 BGs aren’t even closely enough to progress.
More correct „if you gonna die“. Believe me: unless you have like 3-4 month of free time and you are ok to live in alterac for all that time every day from dawn till dusk it isn’t worth it. If you aren’t playing warrior you should really questing if you want it
If it’s like SoD it takes 7 weeks to rank from 0 to 14.
Curent week: R4 and 60% with 33 750 honor
Week +1: R7 and 20% with 110 000 honor
Week +2: R9 and 60% with 256 250 honor
Week +3: R11 and 40% with 418 750 honor
Week +4: R12 and 64% with 500 000 honor (max cap)
Week +5: R13 and 34% with 500 000 honor (max cap)
Week +6: R13 and 67% with 418 750 honor
Week +7: R14 with 418 750 honor.
One little factor most people don’t know: no lifers (no offense) spam AV from Wednesday to Friday mostly. If you want to rank you have to start ranking from Wednesday.
From Sunday to Tuesday number of people ranking in av starts significantly dropping with each day. Starting ranking from Friday evening or Saturday morning can break you progress because you can actually not get you cap weekly honor because people would already stop ranking by the time you start. Don’t even try to find somebody in Monday/Tuesday
There is no way 4-5 hours solo que av will give you 418 k honour
getting PvP ranks while avoiding PvP by just killing a Drek/Vanndar in 7min IN REPEAT is the biggest shame of the videogame industry
NO HONOR LOSS, NO HONOR CAP PER WEEK IS THE SOLUTION TO BRING BACK REAL PVP WITH WARSONG AND ARATHI
F AV SPAMMING
Almost all Classic players are there only to obtain the max level, then the best possible equipment as quickly and easily as possible, and then complain about the lack of content because there’s nothing left to do.
This community is a reflection of our times, hysterical and consuming.
I really hope that they make AB/WSG incentives the same as in SoD, because otherwise there is no way Ill pvp. Sitting in AV killing a boss, and rinsing repeating this over and over is not my idea of fun personally.
That’s why I joined pvp server In anniversary. At least I will have world pvp
If you play 5 hours AV everyday that’s 35 hours in a week. I reached R14 just from AV when and era was popping half year ago. Getting about ~70k honor everyday was not that hard.
35h is almost like a full time job
Yeah i think its 10k/h if you lucky winning avs each time. Maybe 15k/h. So will take alot of time to reach r14😅
Yes it does take time, ranking is not for free it is a time commitment, but at least now its possible to do it solo without premade.
I play ret in era, inspired by drakova/esfand 2018 pserver streams, mained ret since then. I like it, but its not a spec for premades, its dueling/pugs vs pugs spec so now as ret I had chance to finally get R14 and wield my favorite looking weapon grand marshal claymore while with old system I would have never gotten R14.
In 2019 start I believe I got up to R10 and then I did quit wow for few years due to burn out from raiding, as there was no chronoboon + pvp server getting dispelled, ganked not that fun while riding to raid.
