Quel’dorei High Elves as an Alliance allied race - 2024 (Part 2)

What matters is the quests and cutscenes.

We have different metrics to measure what matters.

You have nothing to worry about since your leader gets all attention in the first 1/3 of the questing.

And I do. I was happy with Tirion as the WoW’s default option for Light because ultimately he and Argent Dawn never picked a side. But alas we had to see him die in probably the tie for the most pathetic death. at least Vol’Jin died fighting and trying to stop the endless army of Legion, Tirion got captured and died as his light shield got overpowered. With Turalyon’s Army of Light being introduced and later Knights of Silver Hand dissolving and being absorbed into alliance the other Light users sidelined.

Void Elves honestly feel like a unfunny Joke being declared void specialists considering the only notable advancement in the Field they gotten without Alleria and Locus Walker was almost getting themselves turned into mindless void drone.
Meanwhile Forsaken have the only official religious organization focused on Shadow Magic (they basically inherited teachings of the first Shadow Priest that was under Xalatath influence) but noooo like hell they know anything about void.

They are the answer for both Trolls and Elves fans. They are Elves and Trolls at the same time! Its a blizzard special.

This of course is the most important point here. It is amazing how often we get stuck into digressions about lore and false parallels and people who want Alliance High Elves attempting to find ‘gotcha’ moments to try and prove this point or another but in reality it all boils down to this.

And the reality; THEY DON’T WANT TO ADD ALLIANCE HIGH ELVES. I mean so many pro High Elfers attempting to argue Blood Elves and Alliance High Elves are different things yet at the end of the day, they aren’t and Blizzard doesn’t want to make that exact race available to the Alliance. And we know that isn’t happening.

It would be a problem to me in that it would compromise the core race fantasy of the Blood Elves and that that experience should be reserved to the Horde faction. This request is unfair on the Horde faction, unfair on Blood Elves and unfair on Void Elves because it weakens the unique identity of the Horde in a two faction game, usurps the Blood Elves from their core fantasy and has Blizzard implicitly admit that Void Elves were a mistake (double for Void Elves if the request is met by violating their core race fantasy).

Keeping the option on the table? I am afraid that is entitlement. Are Ogres kept on the table if Blizzard reuses them? Was Mug’zee in Liberation of Undermine a big two fingers to those who had hoped for Ogres but never got them? Are the Amani players being taunted because they are probably not getting playable Forest Trolls even though there is a whole two zones dedicated to them in the coming expansion? These are narrative elements, nothing more, nothing less and Blizzard owes nobody anything regarding them. If they wish to use them, for whatever reason, then that is their choice and if some choose to see that as them being provocative about it then that is on them.

No, because by the same principle I don’t find it weird they don’t deal with Ogres, or Sethrak, or any other requested race. The request has no bearing on the narrative. Nor do I think there is much of an Alliance High Elf story. I think it is a construct fashioned together by decades of pro High Elfers reinforcing each others points to pretend their is story, but what is there really? Veressa following either Sylvanas, Alleria or Jaina as a supporting player…even in 11.2.7 she if a supporting player to Arator. Even their big moment in MOP was a Jaina and Dalaran story. Not once, not ONCE, have they had an arc that is incontrovertibly their very own.

And Alliance High Elves can merge with the Void Elves. If anyone wishes to roleplay their Void Elf as a former Alliance High Elf who embraced the void, nobody is going to stop them. That is what those new customisations from Shadowlands were meant to facilitate it seems. But you accept everything that goes with it.

The likeliest outcome for the Alliance High Elves is that they simply dwell at the edge of Quel’thalas in Silverglade refuge forever. Remember, no flying city anymore. No Kirin Tor to justify them going elsewhere. No big bang. No real time spent on them. Just…they sit there and fade away.

Well im looking forward to explore our little corner on the refuge with the SC stationed there.

Also they changed the refuge dragonhawk for one with HE colours.

I am literally looking at it and they have not.

You have any screenshots? I don’t think I will luck out and be allowed into the Beta (and I’m certainly not paying extra 50€ for that) so at least there’s that.

Red shirt guy on twitter. Im not paying a special edition for a beta aswell.

I was asking Kaeros since he seem to have the Beta access.

I really only use beta access to mess with classes as I am strongly of the opinion the expansion should be kept as fresh as possible but I did make an exception for Silverglade refuge…which I approached from the plaguelands.

I can take screenshots but I don’t think I can post them here. Any suggestions?

Not really. And I do appreciate the answer there is some truth to that

Maybe this works? Remove the gaps of course.

Ah my apologies.

It does and yeah. The Dragonhawk is red. The other mount isn’t.

No need for apologies and Sorry if I sounded crass. Written form isn’t best to convey the tone.

No problem. The plinth it is on is also in standard Quel’thalas colours, so I am assuming they just used the standard flight point used for this expansion here. I imagine if I were to go to any of the other flightpoints in Quel’thalas it would be the exact same.

It is indeed blue though if you use it to fly.

Well I guess that proves it. Playable Alliance High Elves incoming.

On the tweet he is flying on it. Dont think the nest one was updated.

Check the @redshirtguy twitter at 7:43 12th of November, there is a pic.

A reminder to everyone who has access to the beta to write down in the feedback what you want from the game! Blizzard has beta tests for the express purpose to listen to the fans, so here’s our chance to make our voices about high elves heard!

Yeah the updated dragonhawk looks amazing, I’m glad they added them as the flying mount. It’s the one we’ll be able to get from a rare!

I’m sure they’ll update the roost before launch.
