Quel’dorei High Elves as an Alliance allied race - 2024 (Part 2)

Yes because it’s possible they missed the past decade and a half of complaining about it.

It’s definitely weird to keep dangling them infront of us and also give a bunch of dismissive answers when people ask for them. Ogres and Sethrak have nowhere near the same presence as Alliance High Elves.

As for the real reason behind the lack of progress on it, it is probably more technical than anything else, I think officially introducing further sub-types of races overall is something that will be implemented later, when customization has become a bit more sophisticated.

And again, nobody’s core fantasy will be compromised, your character will still be a Sin’dorei of Silvermoon, and implementing the Quel’dorei of Quel’Danil or w/e won’t change that. They both exist, and narratively they support eachothers differences, they make the other more interesting by default same way the Huojin and Tushui Pandaren do.

This pretty much sums it up.

It’s so weird for them to be so opposed to such minor implementations (especially when we can already look like High Elves), to use arguments like core fantasy and identity theft, when this is what Blizzard has a habit of doing with new races.

Who were quietly retired from any and all stories after Cataclysm Revamp. Ever since the “story of High Elves” was basically story of Silver Covenant showing whenever Dalaran went. Even before that their supposed Leader Varessa was a satellite character. First to Rorhim who was playing main fiddle in their marriage to the point their children were never shown and even less often mentioned, then to her sisters depending on which one was available at the time (reminder that this proud and clean High Elf considered becoming undead just to be with her last relevant member of her family). And now what’s her role? Being a minor satellite character in Arator’s story. Great leader, need more.

The point isn’t whether they are or aren’t actively a part of the current story, the point is that they exist in the world, and can be usable without rewriting anything - As opposed to the rewriting they do when they introduce new races and retcon a truckton of lore to fit them in.

Does that make it clearer?

Someone tells her that Vereesa has done more than Halduron and Rommath combined since their introduction and even during Midnight.

As a reminder, Halduron is one of the most important figures in Quel’Thalas.

You mean through books or games? Because in WoW you basically never see Varessa acting on her own.

And that Blizzard hates developing and using characters not named Windrunner isn’t exactly a secret. We’ve been riding that family’s thing for a long time (which is something considering it’s all just 3 sisters)

Before midnight Vereesa rotated around Jaina all the time. She was never her own character.

Which is exactly the point: If they don’t “make them happen” and want the Alliance to focus on the Void Elves, the real question is: Why keep the High Elves around in the first place? But of course, it’s more fun to upset the people in the forums and don’t question the intentions of Blizzard’s story writers.

So we’re talking about player concerns and not the story. Thank you for finally clarifying this.

We do not have an Oger faction on display in the Horde. We do have a High Elf faction on display in the Alliance. But we’re moving in circles again.

So if Blizzard keeps HE around in the story, but doesn’t make them playable, it’s not a problem, because it’s Blizzard’s choice.
If HE fans use that as a base for the argumention for Alliance HE, it’s "unfair"and they “choose” to see that as provocative.
If anti-HE people like you argue against the HE-crowd, they don’t “choose to see the HE crowds behaviour as provocative”, no, in that case, the anger is justified.

Got it.

Not less than other Allied Races. The High Mountain Tauren’s “core fantasy” isn’t that different to the Thunderbluff Tauren’s, same goes for the Mechagnomes and the Gnomes. Void Elves didn’t even exist before their introduction questline and Kul Tirans are basically just humans with ships. :man_shrugging:

But I got all the answers I needed from that post. You’re either unwilling or incapable to change your own perspective or even consider other people’s arguments, even for a single post.

Therefore I’ll just say: Agree to disagree.

EDIT:

If you start a flight (with an alliance character of course), you’ll mount up on a blue dragonhawk, it’s just a red one sitting there.

Except we don’t really? In the entire fall of Dalaran storyline we barely see any High Elf Involvement. Their home gets destroyed and instead of Varessa or any Silver Covenant NPC we follow Alleria. Despite the City being destroyed outside of two unnamed NPCs we don’t even see Silver Covenant’s involvement. It’s less so we see the High Elf faction and their story and more that we follow Varessa or lately Alleria who happen to be elves. And we primarily followed the former because we followed Dalaran.

I don’t because any feedback I’d have about writing and wishing to put less focus on Windrunners and more on Blood Elves will fall on deaf ears.

They gave us quests in MoP, just as they will in Midnight.
The NPCs are basically a reminder that these “normal” people are still around.
My point was that you can’t compare Alliance High Elves to Horde Ogres, because Blizzard doesn’t really show Horde Ogres in the game at all.

Yep i was getting a bit fed up of sylvanas.

I’m already fed up with Alleria and I barely just met her…

Imagine Alliance players dealing with sylvanas and nr1 self insert fan boy for ages.

Senti, no matter how many reasonable things you say he will vehemently disagree with you. He will twist the narrative to fit whatever argument he has.

At least most helfers can see and agree with why they feel the way they do - yet when we disprove their points such as in the case of: “No, in fact, you lose nothing on it! Here’s why” they move on to the next point. It’s a never-ending ferris wheel of madness. xD

He just wants to oppose everything. He’s not interested in coming to terms. He quite literally calls us loons for “not giving up after 20 years”.

You’d think the fact that it has been asked for 20 years would mean something, but no… it doesn’t. :upside_down_face:

You at least got to go against her and deal with negative consequences of her actions. I get to play a sidekick to Alleria’s stupidity and pretend nothing bad happened and I can’t even kill her.

You didn’t deal with her in bfa. Just shadowlands, by that time she was no longer part of the Horde.

Oh they do show Horde ogres. Not as much as high elves but still. The only reason we don’t have them yet is Blizzard trying to fix serveral problematic issues with gear on their models and female body type.

When do Ogres show up or feature in the Horde’s millitary structure?

Because I’ve heard people claim that High Elves’ input on the Alliance is minimal on this thread, but every expansion to date has featured them as an integrated part of the Alliance’s combined millitary. I don’t think there’s a single one (besides /maybe/ WoD?) that doesn’t feature High Elven NPCs strictly aligned with the Alliance.

For Ogres, their only contribution is in Classic Dustwallow. Which has long since been destroyed, and there’s a paltry spot in Feralas that was added in the Cataclysm. But even then, do we ever see Ogres acting in the Horde’s armed forces?

That is not true. We saw some ogres in Legion when they send us to the buffett to collect buffs and the ogres an question note the idea that they REALLY want to join the Horde. And of course Feralas where the Stonemaul clan build a big fortress to siege Diremaul. And we see some too during the bfa war campaign at the assault on that mansion to steal Azerite from the alliance.
