i am confused, i just saw wow video “Pre-Expansion Update Survival Guide | World of Warcraft” and in the video they say “take a Level 80, or higher Void elf to Karesh and complete Magister Umbric’s questline”, do you really need to be void elf or its a blizzard fail and any character can unlock it?
Excuse my ignorance, but I am very confused about this

your question is weird so here is some info:
- If you would like to play VOID ELF DH, then you need to unlock VOID ELF also
- if you only want to unlock the Devourer spec, then you need to do short questline, has nothing todo with VOID ELF
How’s his question is weird if they said that clearly in survival guide video that you have to use/be lvl 80+ Void Elf to unlock DH for them.
I’m confused right now too as until this video I have only saw non official posts/comments (not by someone from Blizzard) that every race can unlock DH for VE.
But after survival guide it looks like that only VE can unlock DH class for them. So I’d like to know what correct too!

I had Void Elf race already unlocked. You need to have that.
Iirc you need a level 40 character to do the quest line from the embassy (Stormwind).
To unlock the Void Elf demon hunter you need any level 80 character, I did it with an 80 Vulpera shaman.
