Reserve Your Name in WoW Classic on August 12 at 22:00 GMT / August 13 at 00:00 CEST

#1

Character name reservation for WoW Classic opens next week on August 12 at 22:00 GMT / August 13 at 00:00 CEST. Players with an active subscription or game time on their World of Warcraft account will be able to create up to three characters per WoW account and have the name(s) reserved before WoW Classic releases worldwide on August 26 at 22:00 GMT / August 27 at 00:00 CEST.

We will release details regarding realm names and realm types later this week so you can coordinate with your friends on where to begin your adventure. If there are high numbers of players congregating on individual realms during the name reservation/character creation process, we will post warnings about the potential for long queues on those realms, giving you time to choose alternate realms. Also please note: Character creation will be limited to only one faction per realm on PvP realms.

After release, the number of WoW Classic character that can be created per WoW game account will change to the following limits:

  • A maximum of 10 characters per WoW Classic realm.
  • A maximum of 50 characters across all WoW Classic realms in your region.
  • Only one faction per realm on PvP realms.

There is no overlap regarding character limits with World of Warcraft, so if you have 50 characters in Battle for Azeroth you can create 50 more characters in WoW Classic.

WoW Classic’s worldwide release is almost here so it’s time to get started organizing and planning your path to level 60!

@Taepsilum

Hi,

Will the servers be open until launch day for character creation? Or will they be open only a few hours or until a given specific day?

Thanks in advance,

Cheers

At last, we can plan which realm we go with our friends  Thank You!

#6

Please also warn us on the realms occupied by streamers, giving us time to choose alternate realms.

#7

what streamers ?
this ain’t us

You might want to change the time for UK, you’ve put GMT , but we’re in BST just now, so that would make it 23:00.

(Vaunont) #10

BST may be unfamiliar for those not living on an island

But I guess GMT can be a bit confusing as well during the summer as people may think CET is GMT+1 and forget about daylight savings.

If anyone is unsure, just google “gmt time” and it show the current time in GMT.

Will we see an RP-PVP realm on release?

#12

Quite late to release the realm names at the end of this week :frowning:

#14

RP PVP pls blizz pls

#15

Agreed. A lot of players in the US and EU are looking forward to play on an RP-PvP server. Do not dissapoint us, Blizzard.

#16

I dream of a world where Blizzard would stop releasing stuff at midnight for Europeans

We aren’t 18 anymore

#17

Still better than the US though, where you run the risk of having to work during every single release :unamused: especially since Americans hardly get any vacation days.

I am mainly wondering if it’s possible to check somewhere if my desired name is allowed by Blizz. Does anyone know? Due to words meaning different things in different languages…

Blizzard seem to have simplified their naming policy quite a bit. It used to be very specific, with a list of things you couldn’t use. Now it’s very vague:

Character Naming Rules

  • The character name must be between 2-12 characters long.
  • Accented characters are supported.
  • Numbers and symbols are not supported.
  • Mixed capitals and spaces are not supported.

RP naming has a few extra rules: https://eu.battle.net/support/en/article/135764

If you’re concerned maybe make a ticket and ask a GM.

Thanks for the reply,

Seems like I’ll have to contact Blizz on this one!

#23

Why do this using global time? i doubt many EU players can wait till midnight to reserve their player names.

#24

how much time we have to reserve the name? 24h or less?
