Hello, I just came back after a 6-year RL break and the difference is wild. You made the actual game (DPS, raiding, M+, BGs) super easy for DPS basically one-button rotation with the new assistant stuff so anyone can jump in and feel strong. I get it, accessibility and all. But then you completely buggered the professions system.
Prospecting gold-star ore with 0 points in the right tree gives me the exact same trash as silver ore. I’m spending more time staring at talent trees, knowledge points, menus, and AH flipping than actually playing the game I came back for.
It feels like you made the fun part braindead easy… and turned crafting into a second job spreadsheet simulator. Is this intentional? Because it genuinely sucks for returning players who just want to log in, kill stuff in AV, do some progressive stuff and maybe make a few gems on the side without 40 hours of menial grinding and spending more time on Grok and wowhead than playing the game, Anyone else feeling this after coming back?
P.s Why is their no built in AI like a Brann AI terminal ? the game needs it!
Thats is so dull. Im having trouble having a main now because they destroyed all classes. Everything feels so damn easy and boring. Even the old high skill cap classes like rogue, mage, hunter etc, are brainrot now.
So, you like new chances? You like brainrot classes? Dont you like a bit of challenge? You preffer things to be easy and the same? Dont you enjoy when you do top dps because you’re good and not because your class is op? Wierd mentality my friend. Guess you play with warmode off as well.
I feel like I’m forced to follow profession guides now and making one mistake in them feels so punishing.
I do understand what you mean with the profession change. It feels overwhelming.
I too had some time to adjust to it and still am grinding at it the best I can. Eventually I’ll get there I guess?
Just give it a moment it’ll grow on you and crack open a guide. You won’t regret it.
I’m sorry the other replies so far were far from supportive or empathic with your sentiment.
Name one time in the past decades when profession was viable for… anything
You either camp the AH and gather with army of alts squezing out a handfull or gold or play the game
The same game that was a braindead buttom smashing since the dawn of WoW
Take off your rose tinted nostalgia glasses; the game never been “hard” or required you to be a self-priclaimed pro or expert
It is the same you just got older and wiser and maybe even tried other games so now you have something to compare
I’m skipping professions since Dragonflight. It’s a system so convoluted that they are beyond my will to try and understand anything about them. Not worth it. I just create what I think it’s fun with engineering and then I’m done.
I agree with what Alfiriniel said about professions.
I didn’t use a guide due to lazy. The profession system is quite complex but is worth it once you understand it. The game does explain how stuff works quite well.
I think it’s much better than it being easy and giving bad gear.
I can’t speak on DPS rotation though as I only play tank.
It’s been like this since Dragonflight and I hate it too, maxed my professions in previous expansions but not done any in the last 3, truly awful system sadly so I don’t really touch it now.
Well isn’t kinda supposed to be because if professions were easy everybody would be crafting the things and the we would not have rare things and nobody would be making gold in professions the difficulty is there to make the scarcity just like in the real world.
JC has always been a tad grindy unforunately even in previous iterations of crafting.
I don’t find I need a guide to level professions but on the other hand I level the professions to support my main so they all opt for things my main needs. There is nothing new about optimal craft levelling guides, these have existed since Vanilla.
I am no fan of the KP grind and I detest that maxing a profession is pretty meaningless these days. It’s all about the knowledge.
It gets less grindy as you rank up. I was getting 1 ore almost every time. Now I’m sometimes getting 9 from a single node (I do still get one sometimes).
If I hit the jackpot on a 9 ore node I can sell it for 360 when ore is 40g per ore.
It’s more about the Knowledge Points as Punyelf said…….I have played DF & TWW from start to end and NEVER maxed my KP purely because it’s an RNG based system and I have lots and lots of ALTS
Honestly, I had a similar thought yesterday. It somehow feels like they put a lot more effort into making the crafting system as complicated as possible, while the rest of the game feels incredibly cheap and low-effort. Something about that just doesn’t feel right.
