Does anybody know what happens on TBC prepatch, if you buy Riding skill during Vanilla but don’t buy any mount? Like not even the blue 60% one, just the Riding skill. Does this automatically give you Apprentice Riding on prepatch?
In Vanilla, there is no Apprentice or Journeyman Riding skill, those were added in TBC (so there IS a change in Riding skills). In Vanilla, there is just a Riding skill for both, 60% and 100% mounts. Having a 100% mount in your inventory automatically grants you Journeyman Riding skill on TBC prepatch day.
I don’t know how should I formulate the question, so you guys understand it I am aiming at the biggest savings possible and buying a mount now is the exact opposite
Well, that would mean that buying skill only is 20 gold lost to nothingness. I actually did this with one character, so we’ll see and be sure for Classic 3.
Was thinking the same, but for someone like me (I am not raiding, nor PvPing) it’s much quicker to gather 600g than R11.
I am also like 90% sure it’s mount based, and the “horse riding” and “sabre riding” and “mechanostrider driving” skills don’t actually transition into anything.
Because from normal, intended gameplay perspective, what are the chances a prepatch hits with you having learned riding but not buying a 60% mount? Absolutely miniscule.
I guess you will be the hero we need to risk losing 18g for science.
You receive apprentice or journeyman riding skill for free, if you have rare or epic mount in your bags or bank. You don’t receive any riding skill for free, if you don’t have any mount in your bags or bank. I don’t think you can game this system. No cheap riding for you, but you can try, who knows what kind of bugs they’ll bring.
I bought Riding skill without mount on one character (don’t ask me about reasons please ). It would still be cost-inefficient to buy mount now, so I just let it as it is and let you know about reults once prepatch hits
So if you have a 60% mount in your bags you’ll get the basic level riding skill.
If you have a 100% mount you’ll get the next skill up.
That’s what I’m working on anyways, so lots of AV for me to get the epic mount for ~90 gold.
Then you just need the riding skill which is faction based in vanilla, ie tiger riding for saber mounts, horse riding for horses. There is only 1 level skill so you just need that and the epic mount and you should be good to go.
