RP Guides on YouTube – For Newcomers & Veterans

Hey everyone,

I’ve started putting together YouTube videos aimed at helping people with roleplay on Argent Dawn. These are guide-style videos designed to support new RPers who might be unsure where to begin, while also sharing useful tips and reminders for veteran roleplayers.

The goal is to make RP more approachable, clear up some common questions, and give people tools to feel confident when they jump into the community.

If you have any suggestions for guides you’d like to see covered, whether it’s etiquette, addons, character creation, or tips for running events. I’d really love to hear them.

Subjects I think could be useful for newcomers:

  • How much lore are you expected to know as a roleplayer?
I see this one come up now and then.
  • IC power, authority, and sharing the sandbox in good spirit
Related to roleplay etiquette, and that IC power can only go as far as those around you are willing to play along.
  • Character relationships
The general do’s and dont’s of roleplaying character relationships with other players, to ensure things stay healthy and fun for all involved parties. Be that familial bonds, romance or rivalry.

When it comes to a guide about running events; I think it might be good to cover different types of events, from one-shot DM adventures to campaigns, from to tavern nights to bigger spectacles. Both to demonstrate variety, and because they may require very different levels of commitment, planning and coordination to pull off.

Thank you for the suggestions! I think all of them are wonderful! And I will definitely look at planning videos around them.

As for the events. That’s the plan completely but before we deep dive into events. I’m now sorting some videos out for items/toys/pets.

Cheers! And in case it helps brainstorming ideas and angles for the first suggested topic, we had a forum discussion about it some time back where other players shared their thoughts:

People have many different thoughts on it, however I think there’s value in having a short guide on it, suggesting basic things that are helpful but not requiring tons of extra work. Perhaps mentioning the most used lore resources used by the community as well!

Looking forward to the next video!

Great guides!

As TRPitem enthusiast myself, i would LOVE to see may be a short video about very basic TRPitem trade interaction.
And I’m always for fully including more TRPitem interactions in RP!

For example, im selling lottery tickets or giving away my shop’s card every time, a-a-and… most people struggle to find inventory button on TRP tooltip or they got confused, because huge TRPitems (like my shop’s card) needs to be downloaded first in order to complete trade.

TRP:Extended items and interactions is very confusing for some people, especially for ones who’s not familiar with that, it’s a deep rabbit hole to dive in and not many players want to bother with that, but they should be at least prepared for such interaction.
I often receive whispers like “Hey, where i can find this item?” right in a midst of RP scene after i emoted and gave an item to this player.

So, may be short guide about that would be really cool to have.
Something like:

  • People can trade TRPitems to you during RP scene and you need to be ready for it.
Small items can be traded freely, but large, heavy coded items requires you to hit “Download” button underneath the item’s name.
OOF! And security warnings about how some items have different security types and you need to allow security options by hitting “?” button near the item while trading.
I personally always trying to do “Green Safety Secure” items to avoid this confusion, but i see a lot of people creating “Yellow” or “Red” secure items, which mostly something like “Play emote” or “Say something in chat” - its not a big deal, just a small confusion.

  • Basic TRPinventory navigation, finding buttions, ect.
And inventory space! Many players are confused with TRP bag slots due to how often they interact with TRP items. Solution to that? - Create container item yourself, or find one via RP. My shop have a “Pockets” items exactly for this purpose and other huge campaigns usually gives players some sort of “container item” at the start.

  • Some items have “use” option on them.
For example my lottery, you “use” the ticket and you’ll receive a random amount of TRPcoins, quite simple but for unfamiliar player can be highly confusing.

  • TRP:Extended currency.
TRP:E have its own coins and you can get them from bankers NPC via small campaign interaction, campaign available by default to everyone who have TRP:Extended. And why this is such big deal for me, this is because my store requires players to have these “default TRP coins” in order to even buy something. And well, my lottery also gives this same coins.
And I highly encourage other TRPItems creators to use these “default coins” in their items, interactions and campaigns. You don’t have to create your own “coin” items!
