CONFIDENTIAL REPORT ON THE PRELIMINARY SCOUTING AND RE-EXPLORATION OF DOOM’S WAY ISLAND
STATUS: IN PROGRESS
AGENTS INVOLVED: SENIOR OPERATIVES PHINEAN HORDECULLER AND HIT HARDNAILS
In all my years hounding and hunting the savages of the Horde, whether they are Old, Dark, Fel, Iron, True or New, I had my fair share of surprises and the cunning displayed by our arch rivals within the Bilgewater Cartel. Whenever we developed new means of espionage and surveillance within weeks they invented countermeasures and deployed their own devices, bots and agents to waylay our efforts. Naturally we responded with our ingenuity and established Gnomish superiority shortly after. This arms race hardened our wills and tech and gave us tremendous experience in handling and countering Goblin technology.
Hence our mission to survey Doom’s Way (Note: The island must be renamed after the Alliance claims it.) is proving a greater headache than we anticipated.
The aircraft we commissioned to map out the best routes to the island returned with no actual sightings of it on account of turbulent weather and poor visibility.
The Gnomish Covert Ops submergible my colleague requisitioned and later commandeered apparently lost its way with its target coordinates getting inexplicably scrambled. Instead of emerging on the coast line of the island they found themselves in the open seas with no land in sight. This happened three times over the past two weeks. Our engineers swear their consoles are not malfunctioning. I believe them.
As a last resort we requested an audience with a conclave of Highborne and Gilnean Mages who specialize in scrying and are alleged experts at divination. We gave them all information we had on the island, the locale, the assumed location, even the Alliance’s past involvement on it. We gave them a week, only to receive a missive claiming they are unable to find the landmass we described due to what they describe as magical interference, either Arcane or something occult. Now they allegedly have a Kirin Tor wizard involved to investigate this “Anomaly”.We will continue sending out aerial and naval scouts to the area. If all else fails we will contact the Kaldorei garrison in Feralas to lend their aid, but I hope that the mages will come back to us with a solution before we have to start involving the Night Elves as well, who might misinterpret our mission. I will leave that matter with Senior Agent Hardnails should it develop.
Currently we have no reports of Horde activity in the area. I will deliver a missive with utmost urgency once this changes.
