Save RPPVP, open free transfers to Zandalar Tribe

Yes some of the same happened to HW, so I know the mill. Sigh! I paid to go back! after taking free transfer off with my guild. But I could not live on a high-pop server.

I agree in all that you said - except for the small part about a playing PvP

Like you I had decided to just let my toons stay on the server and die with it. You will btw be transferred to an unknown - probably high-pop server if you just stay.

What’s worst in this bad piece of disorganization is that we can’t even take the Guild banks with us. The Gold is lost :frowning:

I had already canceled my sub and written my good-bye post, when Blizz decided to save onlty HW. I seriously think all three RP Servers deserved to survive!!!

Yes, we generally agree and that’s what counts. For me PvP is really important but I understand some people may not agree and that’s ok.

That is indeed sad. I’m seriously considering doing the same thing (I’m actually not 100% convinced just yet, but seeing their communication…). Blizzard has consistently disrespected the time put into classic and proven over and over again that they just do not care.

The whole point of World of Warcraft was a place to go after work, or after school or after anything in the real life. A world uncorrupted by real world issues. A magical world where we could accomplish tasks that were impossible otherwise.

It is beyond frustrating seeing this company drop to where it is. No matter how much PR they do to make the company look good, their actions consistently show that they’ll just milk this till the end. And by all means that’s their right, it’s their IP, however I refuse to sit here wasting my time and begging them to do the right thing.

Making classic successful is not rocket science. If a private server on donations only can provide a better service and customer support, then wth are they doing at Blizzard?

A clear example of them not respecting the time put into the game.

It’s sad to see people love the game leave. I’m sure you’re someone who would have been fun to RP with.

True, summer is a factor as well. I just hope that it livens up with pre-patch. And I don’t know if there are any guilds left Horde side on HW TBC (I believe there is a small community in classic era?). In general I prefer to solo and end up in guilds randomly (in which I generally have fun, despite being kinda silent mode)… But in this situation a guild would at least make me feel like there’s someone around.

Most of the german Horde player will move to a german PVE.
Buuut some will play on HW horde. I know of at least one undead guild (i signed the guild statute  ).
And i met some roleplayers who are testing HW currently with small low level alts.
But the Alliance has more Roleplayers from Celebras…

it has killed ALL RP-realms. And in the case of HW it was probably actually a mistake :persevere:

We only have the choise of middle and high german PVE realms. It´s terrible, it´s for me already overcrowded. And with Wrath, the people who come back, will probably make both high.

I actually would not be surprised, if they don´t know yet themselves.
This question has probably a very low priority for them. Who wants to leave, can do so.
Everyone else “probably does not care”.
And i think, they might check to which target realm most player moved, and check, if they would choose the same. It would make it easier to reunite friends later.

But this is just an assumption

 :+1:

RP-PVP can be so much fun!!!
I was so mad when they changed all RP-PVP to RP-PVE with this Warmode thing.
In classic, my Alliance guild had a “counterpart” on horde side.
Everytime we met “in the wild”, no one knew “is it a spy? are there more? Attack? run away? follow?”

unfortunately, our horde counterpart didn´t make it to TBC, if i remember correctly…

You don´t know, how much i would love to join the “Keep the RP-Realms/Celebras” chorus again!

What drives me crazy:
If they had put online Celebras on Release, there would have been enough interest to have a low pop/medium realm.
There were a lot of people who wrote back then and now: “oh… it´s to late, i would have LOVED to play on a RP realm”

Roleplayers are the minorty on a RP realm… and nevertheless, Cele had, before the transfers off startet, astonishingly good amount of players. given the late release

I am so sure, if they had offere Cele during Release, Cele would not be killed know.
“there is no demand”… there was… but not after 8 weeks sigh

I am grateful for the 3 years, but seriously, the low player count was partially created by Blizzard themselves

It’s good to know that some people Horde side will come over. I wish it didn’t have to be like this though, being forced to move because of server closure… But there’s nothing we can do unfortunately except complain about it. Argh! It’s frustrating, to say the least! But at least we’ve seen that there is a passionate community of RP server players (whether they RP heavily or not), however small.

If there is a WoW killer it’ll be Blizzard themselves.

The only reason I still play wow, even after their consistent disappointment, is that classic was supposed to be a return to the roots of integrity… but with their lack of customer support, zero action against gold sellers and bots, portal pass, etc… there is no integrity.

Additionally, I don’t have any real WoW alternatives. If I played cs:go and didn’t like the direction of the game/company, I’d have a gafillion first person shooter alternatives.

RP-PVP can indeed be a lot of fun. My best WoW experiences were on RP-PVP servers. And even with 20-30 players right now, it’s more fun than I’ve had on those mega-servers. It feels authentic with an actual community. You actually don’t need much to have fun in WoW, but something that is essential… is integrity and a community.

Aha, that does bring back memories. I used to play on Emerald Dream horde from Cataclysm to Mists of Pandaria (before WPvP died completely) and there was a guild that would put spies among the alliance to find out where they would RP that day.

Glorious battles. Glorious deaths. I had the privilege of painting the ground red in alliance blood.

I agree. Warmode certainly didn’t help. I also think certain systems implemented in WoW started really hurting it. Things that took away from the world and the communities.

  1. Cross-Realm caused inconsistent communities, meeting people that you may never see again. Unable to meet cross-realm people in certain places (cities).
  2. Phasing caused people to be hidden from one another based on how far they’ve advanced with a scenario/quest line.
  3. Random Dungeon Finder conveniently saved time going to an instance and saved time forming a group, but caused the world to become irrelevant, people spending more time infront of interfaces queuing up and just waiting.
  4. Lack of innovation to promote old zones when new expansions would come out. Scaling was a bandaid to that situation and further made the concept of levels irrelevant.
  5. Looking For Raid increased accessibility to raids and gave free loot handouts at the expense of exclusivity. It also introduced another interface removing even more from the world.
  6. Introducing shop and micro-transactions

I also wish Blizzard promoted less of instanced content over world content. I believe MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role playing game) definition has been lost over the years. An MMORPG isn’t about the instances or the interfaces but about the journey throughout the world, the interactions with others, the communities and friendships and enemies created.

The guild bank is definately going to get lost during the forced transfer. They did specifically say this somewhere. So make sure you empty it and distribute the stuff in there (you do have 50 character slots). The fact that they didn’t even put in any effort for guild transfers, really shows no appreciation for people who actually use the soon to be murdered servers.

And I’m pretty sure the devs know that now too… even if it doesn’t help us

I think the main issue with the RP realms was, that they don´t know the dynamics on RP Realms, which can be a bit different then the dynamics on other realm types

Beside the fact that the devs turned into #ServerMurder, i am actually not that unhappy with them- i like most of the Classic Devs decisions (and the new Dragonflight addon looked good for me for the first time in years)

Did you try LotRo?

Ok, PVP is… different

The problem is with tiny realms: most of them fail terrible, because the players do not work together.
Cele had a good community, especially the last few month, too. (i think Tahro wrote about it in the realm consolidation thread).
And this community, who works together, can not just be moved to another (especially bigger) realm. There are things, that only work on small realms…

It´s possible that something similar happened on my realm - and killed it and the roleplay there in the long run.
We have had a big exodus of roleplayers to a PVE realm (but not ONLY for this reason, of course… there was in general a lot of toxicity towards roleplayers, unfortunately).

The RP was dead after that - and remained dead for years. Even when they merged all RP-PVP together, there were only 3 RP Guilds left, if I remember correctly…
but the overall population was “middle”.
From outside, Blizzard would have said: “oh, a happy, healthy RP Cluster. Leave them alone, we won´t consolidate them.”
just with almost no RP anymore.

And that´s even more anoying for me… we have had so much RP for a long time on Cele. Argh.
Bllliizzzzarrrdd… :persevere:

They want to avoid this, therefore the Realm Consolidation.
Which is perfect, they should just leave the RP Realms alone…

They try to address that, too. At least a little bit.
But these two points are probably the main reason for the consolidations.
The player are not patient enough anymore, to wait more then 15 Minutes (THE REALM IS DEAD!1!!!) for dungeons. sigh

I completely agree.

And i hope, if the current Classic devs decide to not continue with Cataclysm, but build a new “Classic+”, that they will not do the “old mistakes”

It´s a chance to develop Retail and Classic Wow to two completely different types of games

then they shouldve done so after 2019 Classic, not re-release any of the “expansions”.

TBC was the first step down on the road towards Shadowlands and all the other garbage. you folks are just refusing to acknowledge it. TBC and Wrath are retail trash!

I think you might have mentioned this once or twice already. Yes, we know. You like Classic. You hate TBC and Wrath. Everybody should agree and everybody who doesn’t should play retail. Give or take a few insults. Whatever. Are you happy now?

Not only that but here’s a highly personal gripe: many of us will have to change our names when we eventually do transfer. I think that for us who value roleplaying and who grow attached to our characters, this stings especially. And it’s not like they could’ve looked at what other games have done to at least make it a little bit more fair.

I did not want them to kill Zandalar Tribe. And now I’d rather stay on dead Zandalar Tribe than be forced off the server. But I have no choice in the matter. If I end up on Hydraxian Waterlords I’ll have to change my name. Even if my name is taken by an inactive alt made in 2019 on an account that’s unsubscribed.

When they merged servers in Star Wars: the Old Republic it was the player who was the highest level and who had the most played time on their character that got to keep their name. And that feels much more fair.

It is a selfish rant, but I am sad. ;<

It’s not. What you’re advocating for is completely reasonable.

Sigh. It’s sad things have come to this. WoW classic could be such a great game if managed properly.

I know the feeling. I needed to change my character name when I transferred him to MR. Though your case is worse, since you’d practically be forced away. BTW, I just checked to see if I could create a character with your name on HW to sort of reserve it for you, but it was already taken - I am guessing you tried yourself already though.

I have heard the exact same personal rant from people from Celebras transfering awwy and finding their name already taken on all other servers or at least the one they wanted to go to. So while this may be a personal rant, you are not (at all!) alone with the problem, making it a bigger issue and not some whining by a random person. And this has been pointed our repeatedly, just like the guild bank issue and other problems. They just don’t care (enough).

I’ve reached out on Twitter to Brian Holinka (blizzard game designer) and Mike Ybarra (president of blizzard).

Maybe with some luck :crossed_fingers: they’ll see my tweets and help us out. If you don’t try you’ll never know.

Not sure they will understand your problem. Or if they do they would try make fast and most efficient ‘‘fix’’ to fix it their way,
Isnt Brian that designer who woke up one morning and realized on twiter that hunter in retail wow was unplayable in PVP and his fix was to give hunters huge burst DPS as asap improvement?
But my conclusion can be wrong, maybe they will for once listen to you and remaining RP community and all they will do is to leave RP servers to live longer

This is so true. Why continue pay for a game that doesn’t give joy anymore? Could do that for free in a free server and even find there a better environment.

Zandalar Tribe would be the last remaining RP-PVP realm in Europe, since Blizzard took RP-PVP realms down on retail with BFA. While PVP realms are interchangeable, Zandalar Tribe is unique and it must be saved. As an RP-PVP player, I have strictly no business on an RP-PVE realm, so I’ll never consider transfering to Hydraxian Waterlords.

Daily reminder!

Blizzard please, save Zandalar Tribe, we are running out off time!

There is more then enough time - they just need to not shut down the realms.
