I never tried RP in Retail - I didn’t know what it was, this was my first mmo.
I tried a pvp server and got stomped, camped, panicked and looked for a pve server and got hooked on the safe mode exploration and taming.

Then my Authenticator recently started playing up (I’m impressed it’s still working after all these years) and it’s age made me think nostalgically about how the game felt when i first started playing too many years ago.
A lone elf with no idea that people where ganging up on bosses in Karazhan, getting lost, running around the barrens. Jumping out of my skin at the dinosaurs with lazers!

So at last I recently started Classic as Retail seems to have morphed into some kind of e-sport gogogo “who cares about the journey just get me to the end so I can win” mentality. No patience, no resilience and no immersion.

I made a horde and alliance character on a dozen different Classic realms, levelling to 15 checking out chat/guilds before I stumbled on the last unexplored option - RPpvp.
I was going to use it purely to see what levelling without any safe zone and without any immersion breaking bawling on whatever channel would be like.
I was only disappointed in one regard - rarely did I see the opposition as they have mostly gone. But even so, I am really playing the game and not some flimsy mask of a fantasy world at war that is often and instantly ripped away whenever I come across another player.

If rp pvp is allowed what it needs to survive I may not go back to retail at all. If it doesn’t … I may trudge back to gogoland if only for the new dragonfest but only because it is a lesser evil - at least until the battery gives up.

RPPVP - there is no substitute.

I’ve been playing on my own for the past few weeks on ZT, but today I joined a guild here and after only spending one day with them I’m already getting very sad that I’m going to have to say goodbye to them already in less than 2 weeks from now.
RP servers are amazing, why shut them down? The people are amazing and super helpful.
The way people welcomed me into the guild… how they reacted when I said I was planning on transfering to some free server, like they were sad they were going to lose me after only just joining the guild! I don’t think I ever had this kind of welcome in any guild before.
I can feel how this beautiful community is fighting to keep this server alive, I want to fight with them!
Keep Zandalar Tribe alive!

Zandalari Tribe, my home. I remember before Classic first came out, I was set on playing on an RpPvP server like I did back in the days. The day of release I made my undead mage and began my journey on ZT. It was full of life, stories, events and friendships. I had it all planned out, how and where to level to get the most out of my time, but as I went on, I met people. People I got to know, played with and made memories I will cherish for the rest of my life. We played the game together, the way we wanted and I forgot all about my plan and didn’t even care about my leveling, just the journey me and my friends had. The joy about creating your characters story, the fear and adrenaline I felt when we stumbled across some Ally"scum", and had a total war outbreak. Ahh, good times.

TBC came and we continued the journey. Got to lvl 70 and started the grind for pre-raid BiS and gold for epic flying. Some of us made it, but I fell of and was gone for a couple of months.

When I came back, this server, my home, was a wasteland. I went around, quested, continued my grind and felt all alone. Suddenly there is this one dude, who writes in the LFG channel that he has this guild, for those of us who are left. “Its something” was the words that got to me. I wrote and asked if I could come aboard, and joined this beautiful gang of likeminded, compassionate bunch of humans which brought back the feeling of comradeship, going all in on your goals and sparked life back to the server. Before I joined, there wasn’t even 5 people online at once, but now we’ve grown and still going strong. We grow stronger and we grow in numbers, even now, after we’ve been given notice that the server is being terminated.

Its sad to think about all this is about to end, and we need to find new seperate homes. Nothing will ever be the same, without the RpPvp community. So please, don’t take my home away. Keep the RpPvP Zanadalari Tribe alive.

What a beautiful testimony Invictuz. Thank you. I didn’t know it had such an impact on you.

“You should transfer from this dead server without a working auction house” they said.

While we worked together to cover all professions.

“You’re crazy to create a guild on a dead server” they said.

While we found ten people in one day to sign the guild charter in February.

“You’ll never be able to raid on a dead server” they said.

While we recruited 140 unique accounts ans we raided three times a week for months and are able to time ZA consistently and even cleared Gruuls.

Never listen to people that say you can’t accomplish something. Do your own thing and magical things can happen.

It’s something.

The lack of replies from anyone from blizzard is enraging! I think I might have to get the picket signs out and go to head office!

That sounds kind of annoying, but I guess I don’t feel THAT sorry for them.^^

Just trying to get an answer if what we’re doing is futile or not.

I’m definitely not spamming (imo).

If you don’t try, you won’t know.

So he never responded?

According to his twitter profile, he does not often respond, but pass it to the correct person.

But apparently, he does read everything.

there was one older tweet, that he does only respond, if the response would fit into one tweet.

I know…

1 week and four days left…

It’s getting tiring to be active on the forums and twitter. I have better things to do…

In any case, whatever the verdict at least it’ll be over soon :man_shrugging:.

Nobody will tell us the verdict. I am pretty certain by now. We will just have to wait and see. Kind of embarassing (non) communication on Blizzard’s part.

Indeed. Say what you may about Ghost Crawler but at least he interacted with the community.

It’s better than this radio silence.

What really bothers me is that by killing the RP community, they also kill an art safe place.
I mentionned it in previous posts, people on RP servers are mature and will rarely put themselves in front of everyone for the fame. They value their privacy and rarely appear on any front page.
It doesn’t prevent them from creating content that is appealing to them and their friends. Drawings, musics, fun and original videos (better than the average streamer content if you ask me). Every encounter you make can become a cheerful memory that one can translate to any art form he likes.

You might say «Well, nothing prevents you from making your art stuff on any other server». And I agree on the principle, but again… the mindset is at the extreme opposite. If you record a video on ZT people will gladly join you. They will have knowledge about unusual places to record, outfits ideas, they will know how to RP proprely, some will even provide unique items to create effects etc.
If you ask for help on a mega server for an art project you will find nice players too. But tons of trolls as well. They just jump around, yell random words or kill you each time you are trying something in the wild. It is not a very inspirational atmosphere.

If saving Zandalar-Tribe isn’t possible, then at least open the tranfers to Hydraxian Waterlord already. We need time to establish ourselves again and build up our new lore.

You’ll find here an example of what I’m talking about :
