I’ve had more fun “pre-raid gearing” in Dragonflight than SoD.
Actually doing dungeons and world events, Actually crafting gear that is an upgrade and makes a difference, Looking for people with the right profession and sub-profession, Gear that requires more than a profession to craft. Actually getting trinkets that are useful for my class, Actually getting rewarded for my playtime.
Meanwhile on SoD you people farm a 3 agility 4 spirit ring just because it fills the spot and increases your gearscore by 20. All Irrelevant and worthless.
I hope this XP boost will not be applied in phase 3-4 in this form. As it feels really uninspired.
Receiving an XP boost of this kind should only happen after you’ve leveled 2-3 characters the hard way at minimum and perhaps you indeed need to combine some quest rewards from multiple characters through the mail to get access to some account wide items that enables you to have an extra XP boost on that 4th or 5th character or beyond that. Maybe a combination of a “Super comfy sleeping bag” or “Tent” that boosts your rested XP faster.
And for gearing/gold a set of voodoo trinkets or charms that can be found or bought and can be put into something like the “Keychain”, where you get to have like maybe 2-4 charms maximum, and their reward is that they boost “luck” in some sort of way by adding a buff on your party/character that gives the chance of additional drops of gold from bosses/trash or boosts drop chances of items from a specific category of armor or weapons. This way it is encouraged to take alts into your raids. And you can send over the charms to alts. And build up a combination of charms that best benefits your current situation with your alts or raid setup. Which in turn gives people the opportunity to gear up in a phase more easily. Even when reaching the level cap later in the phase.
Also I would much rather see some new (class) quests introduced, perhaps some longer quest chains that you can start through DISCOVERY that tie into the lore of wow. Even if it’s just an NPC that interacts with you when you pass by or stand at a place for a while or lures you in like the new rune quests for rogue where a letter from “C” signals you.
As for raid size, 40 is probably too much. Because for vanilla guilds it used to be quite the challenge to build a community to steadily be able to raid with. And that time to build such a group of players is just not available in 3 month phases. Therefore I do believe going for 25 player raids, 20 player raids, would probably be best.
For me and my friends 10 man raids are perfect. We are a small group that just about get a group going for Gnomeregan now. We’ve all been playing WoW since the beginning of time but we don’t have the time we used to, and simply can’t/dont want to be in a proper raid guild now. We just want to log on for raiding a couple of times a week and have a good time.
I understand flex raids would take some time, but would it be feasible for the last phase? As it looks now none of us would be able to raid coming raids that are require more than 10 players, so hope you can consider something for us going forward as well.
40 man raids or gtfo. Didn’t spend months of planning with my friends just to witness one more WoW abomination.
I rly dislike the exp boost and gold boost, i think if this rly comes i just hop onto retail again. 20man Raids sound like a good thing to me but i think they should also keep 40man.
Till here the Sod team was rocking it but these changes look like a BIG BIG L for the classic part in Sod, in therms of bringing it more close to Retail and making it more open for Casuals it might be a good thing.
It’s Awesome if it was like 100% to 40 but only to 40 and not taking that boost into the last 2 Phases. The Gold boost ist just pure stupid and will ruin the whole classic feeling.
All in all the exp might work if it rly wont taken further then lvl40, GOLD BOOST NONONONONONO and 20man and 40man should cooexist with different loot (not the same loot in 3 different colors please).
Sod Team look a bit uncreative as if the are out of ideas with this one
3ids to be full 489 gear without guild only pogging. This system rly is no fun
They will never understand. They just pretend to understand to sell subscriptions every now and then.
Blizzard is only a brand for last 15 years, they have absolutely nothing to do with what it used to be. It’s a dead company that just carries the same name who doesn’t understand a whee about game development. The only thing they do is fool you into believing that they learned from their mistakes, every single time.
Maybe they should reduce the exp gains even more and remove half of the quests from the game than you can spam 1 button killing mobs for 10 hours to get 1 lvl it will truly be a fun thing to do! You people clearly have a lot of free time and have no idea what to do with it, blizzard is saving you hours of your life and you get mad for it, go get help asap!
Positive update, thanks
I cant agree more, the classic andys are the worst gamers of all, the only thing they are good at is staying in raid and spamming 1 button for hours which i think a trained ape can do better at then them.
Not my problem.
Not my problem
shadowstep nerf when?
Some people like their MMOs to have a slower pace where you actually have to put in time and effort to really earn things. That way achievements still have weight and mean something and they aren’t just constantly shifting sands… like in retail.
I will create a private server for the people like you and I will make it impossible to hit lvl 60 there you can have your slow pace and lvl for the rest of your miserable life
My suggestion, and I know this might be a hard one to implement, is Heroic dungeons/raids. At least at lvl 60. Right now we can steamroll all content in PUGs, and that won’t change without a steep difficulty increase, which isn’t for everyone. But an option to do a max level dungeon where the mobs are five levels above you and bosses have a new mechanic would be awesome. In the best of world this should give better rewards, but I understand that rewards take time to balance.
Just my two copper to this awesome addition to the game.
Hey Aggrend, and SOD Team
I would like to start with saying im enjoying the SOD so far and thanks for your teams efforts. Also I see that you guys are listening to the community which is also very nice.
As soon as I saw this update I felt urge to respond to that. It is going to be my first post about SOD in this forum as a WoW player since 2005.
WoW vanilla/classic have important core gameplay dynamics which makes the whole journey more meaningful when you compared to retail WoW. And it is the reason a lot of (mostly dedicated veteran) players choose to play classic series of WoW.
I will breakdown things I would like to discuss in to parts.
About this update;
Leveling:
WoW vanilla/classic has this feature which require important amount of effort that players has to spent in order to hit to the end game content. This leveling journey, efforts, duration of the leveling also makes player feel more bonded to their character and role. By making it easier this feeling disappears and I think which also connected to way players look in to the game. If something to achieve requires more dedication and effort it makes it more valuable. This is something hidden in our psychology. One of the reasons that WoW has been a very successfull MMO for a decade is players give value to the acts they do in the game. Its kind of accomplishment feeling. Therefore when you make stuff easier, it also becomes less valuable.
On the other hand I know you want players to experience the game in different classes and roles. In order to do that I feel the current 50% exp. buff till level 25 makes sense. I think it is even okay to increase this bonus to 100% till level 25. But making it 100% till the last level is a big “L” and gives that “fast food” retail WoW feeling and already changed my way to look for SOD. It makes the game too “Casual”.
Besides that I would like to mention that I am playing on EU-Living Flame realm which is most populated realm in EU and running raids with my guild and some pugs. To my observations right now there is a HUGE lack of healer role which leads to postpone raids or wait for hours for a healer and for this reason people started make an alt to fill this gap including myself. Current XP buff helps players to re-roll their class or level an alt character for different purposes which is I think cool. But please reconsider this 100% XP bonus till the last level thing.
Mount Price:
“Gold” has never been this easier to reach. Gold farming is very easy already when you compared to vanilla/classic. 90 Gold for 60% mount is very okay price. There are lot of players already owning huge amount of gold and there are items sold on AH for more than 400-500 golds easily even though we are only level 40 yet…
3 Days Reset For Raids:
3 Days reset duration has up and down sides. I would like to mention the downsides of this. It hasn’t even been a month since this phase came out and including myself lot of players already got almost full “Best In Slot” and when you consider the duration of the phases it becomes boring after some point. For example me and my guild members are casual players 30+ years old, working, having family, IRL busy people but yet we managed to got fully geared on P1 then we stopped going raids(BFD) for last 1 month till P2 launch.
Balance for upcoming PVE Content:
With the addition of “Runes” and more powerful new gears in to the game I have big concerns about the upcoming dungeons and more importantly raids. Most of the DPS classes pulling 300-400 even 500 DPS overally. When I remember my 60 rogue main character on 2019 classic, I used to pull 450-500 DPS on Molten Core raid and it was easy enough to clear whole raid. Please consider making adjustments in order to make upcoming PVE content harder.
I know its been a bit long post but here are my very sincere thoughts. I wouldn’t write these if I didn’t felt these are so important. I did not even said anything about classes.
Thank you for your work and thanks for reading.
Balrad [40] Protection Warrior.
-EDIT:
Forgot to mention about 40 man raids. Converting 40 man raids into 20 or 25 man sounds okay. Even for now people are playing the game less active when compared to 2005, so overall activity of players are less and people are having IRL stuff and being busy. Organizing 40 man raid as a guild is much harder now.
I totally agree to the topics in this post. I am also a veteran player and as the postwriter says, we liked it with the old fashioned style. And about the lack of healers in raids, yesterday about 40 raids are looking for a healer. Thats a failure for your team i guess.
why would u lower mount costs after like 30% of actually players have already bought it, as i assume they wont be repayd the difference ? i assume the mount costs was simply to gold sync players who actually play the game and the lowering is for those who play like 2 hours every 3 days to feel some form of capable way of feeling included, also if u intend for this phase to be as long as phase 1 and your simply deleting all the content and making it 100% faster … simply for a player base who chooses to play very little, to once again feel included is by far the most counter intuative bs i have heard, like what content is there after leveling besides gnomer… it was to level your alts and grind that out but now your making that down from a week grind to a 1 day grind lol, i think this dilution / watering down of the game for the ideology that everyone gets a trophy will inevitably be the downfall of this whole thing, please stop listening and taking your comments from twitter and 2 hour a week players on youtube =) especially if this is intended to be a 3 month phase … because its almost at the poiint where its just raid logging … and servers gunna be dead in like 3 weeks besides part time 2 hour a week players … if thats your intended player base then by all means continue =) but all these changes really sound like your listening to too many people who want a level token to just boost them while they buy wow tokens to sell and have gold ingame aka not actually playing the game =)
your level 19 after 4 weeks … seems like the only thing your good at is sitting afk in ogrimarr haha
