Who’s ‘WE’.
Not me
Yeah they should really rename the game to Azeroth Online.
Then we can put silly arguments like yours to rest finally.
If you don’t remember other characters or don’t care, it’s your problem. That’s not our problem. I remember most of the old and new characters.
Hear hear.
I want adventure. Exploration. Combat.
Not war. War sucks.

Yeah…especially we will end up in BfA 2.0. People were demanding a war at that time, and we ended up really badly with the story.
It exists. There’s a reason why woke movies and games are failing. You just don’t want to see it
Go woke, go broke is very accurate and relevant.
I like WoW, I care, and I want it to do better, but with your logic no one should criticize anything anywhere, and eat the worst possible meal they give them with a smile on the face or don’t eat at all, and leave this crap to others to deal with.
Also the argument “if you don’t like it, don’t do it” is so empty, and instead of replying to the criticism you are trying to silence it and end the conversation. That’s not how the issues are resolved.
Why peopel flagged op’s post? HUH? Just because people don’t agree with him it is a reason to flag it? That’s a perfect example why normal people who don’t force their opinions to everyone don’t come here. It’s like a cult right now with double standards.
Just like with other conversation 2 days ago, when I described a group of people that aren’t even on this forum, and my comment was flagged, and the person who described me exact the same wasn’t flagged. You are pumping your own bouble of believs not allowing any other opinion to reach you, not even talking about tolerating it or acceptance. False flagging should give bans.

This woke WoW is dying and going broke since 2010, and it still doesn’t die.
Do you want to know the real reason, which you will hate behind the shift in WoW lore and design? It is not your boogy man of woke people, but the capitalistic incentives of capitalistic corporations focused on profit. The Blizzard as devs openly said, that they want to focus on families and casuals, as they bring them most of the profit, it is just how capitalism works.
My argument about “if you don’t like it, you can leave” is not empty, as under capitalism, you can vote with wallet, right?

This is such a boring and lazy way of looking at media. I’ll grant you this - it’s a profitable way of looking at media if you’re so inclined to hit the anti-woke YouTube grift, but it is lazy and boring.
I’ll give an example with a series I genuinely loved and then watched go down the nick - Doctor Who. And yes, around the time Doctor Who started tapering off in quality was the time the show “went woke” - but a show about a time travelling alien British man was always woke, with it’s explicitly gay characters and pacifistic approach to resolving plot threads. When he can, the Doctor always chooses the peaceful path, and in situations where he can’t, he at least gives it a try. The show has also always celebrated diversity within it’s human cast and with the aliens that also exist within that show’s universe.
What made Doctor Who fall off in quality wasn’t the fact it embraced left-leaning values and an openness of queer people, it was the fact the writing started to suck. The pacing of each individual episode was terrible, the messages that were once subtextual became spoken outward - one episode ended with a Captain Planet style monologue about saving the planet. These sorts of things were always the shows values - but when the delivery is so hamfisted, it’s a turnoff to everyone.
But back to Warcraft - WoW isn’t failing because “it’s woke now”. WoW is “failing” - if it even is failing - because Blizzard are rushing through their plots at an absurd pace, never allowing character development, forcing story beats to happen long before they’re earned, failing to make their main villain who is currently literally the face of the game a compelling one by disallowing her to suffer any consequences - likely because she has a specific planned “downfall” moment, so she can’t be harmed prior to that - the story being disjointed due to the return of Metzen and the sudden shift away from what the previous team was doing, stagnation in gameplay with the constant seasonal iLevel grind - you could keep going, the removal of pet battles matters a lot for some, the recent allied races being unappealing, you could ask a dozen wow players and get hundreds of different answers as to why the game is worthy of criticism…
…or you could just say “it’s the woke : )” and clap along thoughtlessly with everyone else who willingly refuses to look at anything even remotely in-depth. And I know you’ll choose the latter, because thus far you’ve shown that you are too lazy to look at anything beyond a surface level.

True, they rush the story and release early patches, as they want reduce fluctuations of players and hold subscriptions, which equals more profit. It’s just capitalism
It’s just capitalism
Blaming the woes of the world (of Warcraft) on capitalism? Now that’s woke.
But no you’re right, every patch has to be a big patch that either sustains interest or brings back returning players, and it’s felt like since The War Within that they will go faster and faster to really try and bring folk back - or maybe to try and get to the rest of the Worldsoul saga? I genuinely think the three main patches of TWW could’ve been expacs in their own right but, ah well.

True…there was definitely too much content for one expansion, I think this rush could be one of the reasons some people prefer play classic, as they are just tired of rushing. Like I don’t honestly care, as I focus on peaceful and slow questing, exploration, immersion and RP, but i couldn’t imagine myself of being in PvE players shoes, like they have to catch up a progression quicker and quicker.

It doesn’t help that Blizz can’t write clever tactics, they just throw in massively powerful characters (Like Malfurion single-handedly blocking the Ashenvale/Darkshore passage, or the six rogues pretty much clearing out all of Ashenvale on their own), incredibly transparent ploys (The whole kerfuffle for Undercity), or superweapons that were just laying around somewhere (Mana bomb, divine bell, magical uber-catapults at Teldrassil, the magnataur Garrosh had flatpacked in)
Blizz are pretty hit-or-miss with writing character-driven stories, but they 100% biff it when writing battles.
incredibly transparent ploys
Shaw: Sees a moderate Horde force moving towards Silithus.
Shaw: “Mobilize the Alliance forces to Silithus.”
Shaw, upon realizing that the moderate Horde force was a distraction and that a larger one was going through Ashenvale: ![]()
That must be a very effective strategy in Azeroth because the Zandalari fall for it later in the expansion too LMAO
Then why play warcraft there was other games before it and still is that has no war just happiness and rainbows…
No war =/= no conflict
Think about Classic WoW. There’s no war between the playable human faction and the Defias brotherhood, but the Defias are omnipresent within those first three/four (depending on if you count Northshire as a zone or not).
Similarly with the tauren starting zone, there’s no war there - but you see how the tauren are willing to fight against the gnolls, harpies, Venture Co. and quillboar.
A lack of a full scale war does not mean a lack of enemies.
I mean, Tah even put combat as the last one. They’re not choosing pacifism within WoW, nor do they want that.
Then why play warcraft there was other games before it and still is that has no war just happiness and rainbows…
Don’t be silly… I didn’t say I want ‘happiness and rainbows’.
What about “Adventure. Exploration. Combat.” makes you think ‘happiness and rainbows’ exactly?

I would give you more upvotes for this if possible, but thankyou for writing it.
When something that has progressive values fails, it’s ‘oh because it was woke’. When it succeeds and especially if progressive values helped it to success, the ‘go woke, go broke’ crowd fall conspicuously silent. The Black Panther movie is the shining example of this.
I despise the cheap and lazy phrase ‘go woke, go broke’ for precisely the reason you point out here. People opposed to the message blame the message rather than the fact it was badly done.
Did Dragon Age:Veilguard fail because it was ‘woke’? No. It failed because EA had contempt for a core audience of RPG players whom they assumed would buy anything labelled RPG, because the game’s tortured development saw it forced to become a live-service game and then had those elements stripped out, because they dumbed down the writing, ‘marvel-ised’ the setting rather than leaning into the dark fantasy origins of the setting AND went for action combat to appeal to the ‘masses’. The masses though went and bought Baldur’s Gate 3 instead, a game that is arguably ‘woker’ but which of course was a massive success so you can’t label it as such.

And this as well. Excelllent read on the structural problems the game faces. Though in fairness to Metzen, we have been able to put together what the intent of the previous writers (Danuser) was and it was that we would have wrapped up the world soul in 11.2 in Harandar and right now we would be gallivanting around Avaloren trying to face the dastardly Arathi and their Emperor of Light.
I am someone who believes the game needs to return to open faction antagonism. I believe a darker turn is warranted. And I do think the removal of conflict has damaged the atmosphere.
There’s an episode of the Simpsons from its golden era that sums it up. Marge Simpson launched a crusade against the ultra violent Itchy and Scratchy TV show and manages to get the makers of the show to change it. And this is the result…

This is kind of what I feel has happened to Warcraft. But I don’t blame that on progressivism or ‘going woke’.
I blame it on ‘marvel-isation’ and the desire to put our heroes up against an ever great greater succession of cosmic big-bads whilst cosplaying as superheroes. Hopefully once the saga is wrapped up we have a soft reboot and the Alliance and Horde remembering who they are, what they stand for, and that what they stand for isn’t what the other side stands for.
I just thought i’d point out:
Flagging my post literally proves my point LOL
