So I met some great people who play on EU and decided to start on a EU server to play with friends. I live in the US and just found out I can not buy a token to resell unless I change my region to EU. If I change my account region from US to EU to match the account am I in violation of any warcraft policies? I do not want any trouble with the account having most fun with friends on EU in long time
Blizzard will require proof that you moved to the EU, before they will change the region on your account, I believe.
Not sure I understand why someone with a EU wow game but US account can not buy a token. You can play on EU servers if you are in US, You can buy expansion for EU server if you are in US but no tokens. Whats the difference?
Nobody knows. There has been a lot of speculation over the years, that its a “legal” thing or a “taxation” thing, but as nobody from Blizzard has ever commented on it, one way or another, nobody knows, or will ever likely know.
I always thought it was something to do with its involving currency exchange for which you have to be registered in a lot of places and accepted as a bona fide bank or similar. But this was my impression from a long time ago when tokens were first brought in.
There may be some EU card you can load up with balance and buy a token but that may not work.
Nah, they could easily charge the credit card for whatever currency they require ($ in US, € in EU) and have the credit card company do the conversions. If that was the problem, no EU person would ever be able to buy anything from a store outside the EU.
In general, yes, but buying a token is like buying/exchanging actual money. As I said, this could be completely wrong but it’s how one of the very long long ago blues explained it.
