Each to their own, but housing really is pointless.
It feels more like a way for companies to drain your wallet, ESO being the perfect example, while giving you almost nothing meaningful in return. You cannot actually do anything with it besides decorating, and there are far better games out there (and much, much, MUCH cheaper) for people who enjoy that kind of thing.
Realistically, no one except maybe a handful of your friends will ever look at your house or visit it. That will not change unless Blizzard adds something like housing rankings the way ZeniMax did in ESO. Even then, the whole system only serves your own personal sense of progress, which is pretty limited.
I am still happy for the people who enjoy this kind of side activity, but it should stay as just that.
i guess it depends what you like. i could write your post changing the word housing with M+. There is no point in my point of view.
Housing isnt perfect. in the long shot will be FOR SURE boring but for the time we have till MD is perfect to fill the void.
Today i purchased 2 itmes in Tranquillien for 8000 gold. I had more joy to plache a Sindorei forge outside my home than running the bad story of late.
Is a matter of taste
I cant grab the sense to repat a dungeon for 50 times with different difficulties.
definitely agree. Housing MUST not become a pillar.
Now you know how I feel about raids, dungeons and PvP every single season.
If you’re having fun while engaging with it, it’s NOT pointless because having fun is the point.
But those games, don’t offer the additional activities, experience and fun of WoW.
If someone only plays WoW for housing, then I could agree, but most people do not.
M+ is a competitive mode that people progress and get better at. It’s nowhere close to being the same as housing. It’s pve competitive mode that attracts new players to play wow. Housing in comparison is a nothing burger. In m+ you interact with your spec, other players, often times dungeons are lore relevant etc.
Or are blizzard going to host PHI? Player housing invitational tournament?
To be clear, I am not saying people shouldn’t enjoy housing. If you like housing, great. In my opinion I don’t see people interacting with their houses on regular basis. In its
current form, housing feels like wasted dev time and resources. Unless they start adding utility buildings/features to neighborhoods.
Same, I don’t understand this need to constantly bash something. I hate PVP with a passion but I just avoid it. I don’t start harping on about how it’s wasting resources that could be better spent elsewhere etc etc. PvPers can enjoy their content, and I can just ignore it
Wait till you find out about Sims.
I never understood why anyone would play WoW for something it’s not good at. Like there are much better games if you are not interested in M+ or raiding but there is not a single game that provides this kind of content on this level of quality.
Housing is something everybody wants, but much like a new toy, gets old pretty fast and you stop using it.
There is a minority, probably mostly rpers, that will love it and use it regularly, but to the rest of us, it’s pet battles MK II.
It’s a shame, but it is what it is, a feature of Midnight that will not make the expansion better… and with the features advertised so far, I can’t say I’m super enthusiastic.
Blizzard have grown complacent with no real competition in the MMO market for so long, I hope that when people do get bored of the formulaic modern design, it encourages radical improvement rather than falling further into ruin.
I play to raid, I will continue to do so as long as the raids remain fun but I wish I had something else to play for.
Edit: Adding in to say, I’m not a housing hater, I just don’t care about it and having played other MMOs that have it as a system, I agree that it will not get long term use.
forgot to switch char. sorry but i choose to play wow since vanilla cuz i like it.
So you cant undestand why i play it in this way? I can live with that.
Aye and no one is saying that there shouldnt be housing, thats what I’m also first confused about when people make such arguments that some would even said such.
There can be as many houses as can and its not away from anyone but there need to be focus on the main aspects of wow aswell which are raid, m+ and pvp.
And if house is just an house with nothing in it or nothing to do with it then its cosmetic also so I will find it boring but somebody else are free to like it, I dont want to buy expansion that is only marketed for something that I dont care though. I’m sure the people that hate PvP wouldnt buy expansion of which they only hear about PvP.
I dont and I wont buy expansion that is only houses if there is nothing else that interests me in end game.
