Perfect! Enjoy reading through Exploring Kalimdor
Thanks, I hate it!
I did too, so glad I can share the suffering!
Muahahahahaha!
One thing Iâm wondering is why Zekhan is talking as though he was born years after the Horde settled Durotar.

I guess trolls life very short lives, hence why Rastakhanâs 200 years was many troll lifetimes?
Ah buggers⌠just now noticed they didnât upload in chronicle order
Noooo and neither did the Folks and Fairy Tales and Exploring EK books
i tried to look at wowpedia what the timeline says.
Old Hatreds(The Rexxar wc3 campaign and when Durotar was starting to get settled) was year 22.
BfA/Exploring Kalimdor are meant to be year 33-34, so if he was raised on Echo Isles he is between 11-12 years old.
Understandable if he was an orc, since orcs reach adulthood at the age of 12. Trolls not so much.
Even his wowpedia page says he is from Echo Isles, which trolls arenât native too. Especially not darkspear.
Well, Iâm reading through Exploring Kalimdor here. Itâs a bit of a rear-end, to put it mildly. Zekhan is confusing the Darkspearsâ exile from Stranglethorn with their flight from the Darkspear Isle and their flight from the Echo Isles.
Isnât there a massive span between those? Like the Darkspear exile from stranglethorn was like thousands of years ago, the darkspear isle was likeâŚ40 years ago and the echo isles situation was less than a decade.
Their flight from the Darkspear Isle was only 13 years ago as of BfA. He even says he remembers when he first saw the Echo Isles when the trolls first settled there.
Edit: Also, the Horde has held Alliance scouts imprisoned in the Valley of Trials since Cata.
Blizzard just handwaving any kind of timeline narrative away.
That is a long time, how are they alive? I canât imagine even the nicest of orcs/horde culture able to keep prisoners alive for so many years without problem.
Nope, Voljinâs youngest son was given to the GuruBadshi as tribute too!
So the exile happened after that!
They are given, and I quote, âenough water to spitâ on Zekhan. Also, Nordrassil was the heart of the Kaldorei Empire. Despite not existing yet.
Donât forget the Menmar Academy part.
Blizzard not understanding that dehydration kills you quicker than starvation. A person can survive starvation for quite some time, but if you donât get sufficient water, you will be dead VERY soon. Like days soon. Not years.
This quest has always had its issues, tbf. Once upon a time Yenniku was referred to as the quest giverâs own son, and it says he was left behind in Stranglethorn while the rest of the Darkspear sailed away with Thrall. So.
I take it as meaning they are given enough water to waste it on something as petty as spiting on random Hordies.
Unlikely. Thereâs a quest in Stranglethorn where a Darkspear troll remembers an Ogre Mage who dwelled in the jungle prior to their exile, meaning they were banished only after Second War. Also in one of the passages Zekhan confirms he wasnât born on Echo Isles: âWhile Orgrimmar be the home of the Horde, the Echo Isles will always be my true home. I was no bigger than a raptor hatchling when we crossed the Great Sea, but I remember my first sight of this place.â
As for the novel itself, thereâs a couple of actual neat details buried behind the inconsistencies that I liked, thanks to Twiliâs imgur album. The bit about the Darkspear night of remembrance makes Bwonsamdi out to have a constant presence in their lives which feels in character.
I also liked the description of Orgrimmar, though it makes me sad that we donât have a to-scale Orgrimmar where itâs described as a âcity of citiesâ with each canyon valley being like a small city unto itself. Imagine if they updated the capitals to Suramar/Boralus level of scale ![]()
They had to downscale Ironforge (and Undercity) because people are smoothbrains and got lost in those cities. Then again⌠now with flying it might be easier!
