According to the patch notes, weapons and armor should no longer lose durability from combat events like attacking or blocking. However, I just tested this on my Druid against an open-world mob in Harandar, and my pants still lost 1 durability after the kill. This seems happen to my hunter as well. Is this fix actually working as intended?
I was going to say that the patch notes said that weapons and shields were not supposed to lose durability in combat…however then I remembered that bears tank with their rears so pants losing durability is clearly an issue and Blizzard should fix that.
Couldn’t find the original notes but it’s mentioned again here in what they’ve already done:
Reduced repair costs: Combat events such as swinging a weapon or blocking with a shield no longer cause “wear and tear” durability loss to armor and weapons.
Weapons and armor will no longer take durability damage from combat events (attacking, blocking, etc.).
Developers’ notes: This type of durability damage affected different classes and specs in an asymmetrical way. With this change, all players should experience less durability damage in 12.0.7, but in particular, players who use shields or fast weapons should see significantly less durability damage from wear and tear.
Think they can technically say “Weapons and armor”, as shields are classified under armor, even tho they go into “weapon slot”. This still allows damage to helmets and all other pieces.
I think it’s a little unfortunately written because it makes you expect more repair cost reduction at first glance for everyone. I guess the key part is they were actually mainly targeting the asymmetry of repair bills.
I’ll steal that reply from that disc and put it here “Durability change was specific to the per-damage event loss. You still get losses from being in combat over time, but no longer from blocking attacks to shield, or ability use to weapons”.
