When I play WoW on my main character, I really like knowing that I’ve done most of the quests on that character. When I look at my reputation tab, I like seeing lots of reputations filled out. Dungeons and raids have been completed etc.
When I’m on an alt character that has skipped most of the game to do other content, it feels really incomplete. My reputation tabs are empty and there’s quests all over the game that are not done. I feel completely disconnected from the character and struggle to play it.
Does anyone else struggle with this? It’s not a realistic goal to do all the quests in the game and grind all the reputations on every single character I make - if I tried to do that, I’d still be working on it in 50 years time lol. I’m just not sure how to stop caring so much about doing trivial content on alts, just to feel connected to them.
I always make sure that all main campaigns and important content are done on my main, which is gnome warrior, and everything else, I don’t care much, unless I need it from a practical point of view (for example, I had to do the Zereth Mortis campaign on 5 alts in order to be able to play and unlock the content there in a way I want). But yes, the OCD can be strong. I do understand that.
I am saying this in the absolute sincerest of intentions: Do not try to connect with your alts. Do not view them as characters living in the WoW world. View them as simple tools to complement your main character. Give them intentionally non-rp names like “Characterone”, “Charactertwo” etc.. Do not use transmog for them etc.
Essentially, yes. I changed mains from druid to paladin in Legion and she has all the reps and quests etc from then to now. I have an alliance hunter who did loremaster and all the reps who is the “alt main”. Every other alt I have ever made just gets deleted because I feel nothing for them.
