Wildfire isn’t random, but gives extra needed options if you know how to interact with each one of the colors.
I personally rely on it, having Gerilla tactics and cloak legendary that resets the bomb and curve that reduce the CD.
With all that, Bomb is being the second highest damage after raptor and it’s even better cause it is also aoe and range, so when you fight a ranged who escapes from you, you can always get them with it.
There are only 3 possible enhancements. They do pretty similar things and there’s no huge disparity in how each performs, which would make for really bad RNG.
It’s not hugely impactful, and it’s fun to interact with.
“Lace your Wildfire Bomb with extra reagents, randomly giving it one of the following enhancements each time you throw it”>
I meant there is nothing in its randomless that will cause you wish for one over the other, they are all very useful, and the result of what I mentioned (both bomb tree talent with carve and cloak legendary) you reach almost the same damage as raptor (the difference between both is really tiny)
There is some minimal randomness in which colour you will get next, but the most important aspect is that you know which bomb you have BEFORE you use it. It would be way more obnoxious if you didn’t know beforehand, and had to quickly check the enemy’s debuffs to see which bomb you got.
As it is now, you SEE that your next bomb will be shrapnel, and you’re prepared to use raptor/carve right after it.
You SEE that your next bomb is Pheromones so you dump all your focus in preparation to using it.
You SEE that your next bomb is volatile and you make sure you have all your serpent stings up and running before using it.
That’s very far from calling it “its just random lul”, because that implies you just press the button and cross your fingers. Convoke the Spirits is random, it might shoot 4 full moons or 12 moonfires and there’s nothing you can do about it. Ringing Clarity is random, the ret presses his Divine Toll button and it can do anywhere between 5k damage and 40k damage, and theres nothing either the paladin or his target can do about it.
Wildfire infusion will “randomly” temporarily alter your gameplay, but its only 3 options, all of which are very close together in performance. You will never hope to highroll wildfire infusion and oneshot someone, thats not a thing.
The main advantage of wildfire infusion is being able to burst people by double bombing. If u try to double bomb while playing chakrams or Birds of prey your bomb DoT will overwrite itself.
The secondary effects of WFI are actually pretty bad and can pretty much be ignored.
Also birds of prey is really bad in pvp (and pve with most builds). U should be deciding between playing Wfi or chakrams.
