TLDR:
Outland scaling is inconsistent after 12.0.
Observed behavior on multiple characters:
- Shadowmoon Valley, Zangarmarsh, Hellfire Peninsula remain normal old-world level
- Terokkar Forest scales up
- Nagrand scales up
- Blade’s Edge Mountains scales up
This does not appear to be Chromie Time related.
Using Hearthstone, Teleport Spell, World Portal doesn’t make a difference.
Scaling is inconsistent within Outland itself, with some zones staying normal and others scaling incorrectly.

Hi
I’m leveling in TBC, NOT Chromie time. Was playing just fine through Hellfire and Zangarmarsh. As soon as I finished Zangarmarsh it looks like I’m stuck in scaling. All zones now show 25-90 level range, mobs are scaled to my lvl etc.
I tried to get to SW and port back, but that didn’t help. So I tried to talk to Chromie. Funny, I’m not in Chromie time at all. Decided to pick TBC and immediately return to current timezone. Went back to TBC: Still same issue.
Tried logging off and back on again, tried portal and Hearthstone, toggling warmode.
Nothing.
This is super weird, as I’ve played full Classic zones unscaled without a problem as well as 2 zones in TBC…
On the map it shows xx-90 for all zones, all expansions… Certainly didn’t before… I’m currently lvl 64 in case that makes any difference.
Anything else I can do?
EDIT:
I did some more research, and it’s 100% a scaling issue. Happens to ALL my chars, not just one and is inconsistent within TBC, while rest of the universe stays as it should.
