Maybe I wasn’t close enough. I’ll try again. I hope you’re right.
Thats bs. Maybe you think that way, but I dont. Sure, we dont know what we had until its gone, but I didnt need to suffer to get my car either and I still enjoy it.
You actually do (you “suffered” its price). If everyone was entitled to get a Ferrari for his 18 birthday no one would enjoy them, having say BMW would be much bigger deal. Same for legendaries in Classic and Retail, completely different experiences - why do you think is that?
I have never had an issue with the quest limit - and as a few other folk have said; you can abandon quests you can’t do yet and pick them up again later
Yes it’s true . Blizzard has changed the spirit res. And so it has affected the balance of the game on several levels.
I really hope I’m wrong but I’m starting to realize more and more that Vanilla Classic promises starting to become “No Man’s lie.”
I think you’re one of the first people I’ve seen who’ve shared my views on the topic. I don’t mean to start a whole new BfA vs Classic discussion, but I believe that one of the things that has “gone wrong” with modern wow is that so many “small inconveniences” has been removed, so we appreciate the features we have much less.
For better or for worse, classic is what it is and I personally don’t think tweaking all of these minor annoyances (like the questlog) is good for the game as doing just that eventually led to Blizzard successfully re-releasing a 15 year old version of the game with all of the annoyances still intact - by popular demand.
I can confirm that owl is still possible for level 10 horde and I was wrong. I just wasn’t close enough.
Congrats on your new adventure companion
Yeah this is definitely an annoyance for sure! I remember this annoying me a lot more 10 years ago though. I guess with experience, you just know you’ll come back this way in a few levels and don’t really need to carry red quests around in your quest log for a week.
You know what would have taken you less time and solved your problem?
Abandon red dungeon quests and quests from zones you are not ready to go to.
Problem solved. Moron…
There will be no increasing the quest log in Classic. Go to BFA and enjoy hoarding quests you won’t do for countless levels.
What is the next things you are going to cry about? Retail plebs.
Game designers know all these things (and much more we have no idea about) pretty well. They are basic game design psychology stuff, but the things are more complex when you have time, budgets, profits, marketing… i.e. its a business and not about making the greatest design ever. In the end they are trade-offs between money now and healthy game years from now.
While I agree with both you and @Nikaas in the regard that without some adversity life just becomes bland and dull (which can very easily be seen in the younger generations we currently have) and everyone just needing constant instant gratification or they’ll enter a state of crippling depression, some things as quest log limit in classic wow are really just dumb. Not advocating for absolute QoL everywhere to the point stated above, but some is most definitely better than none.
The game already makes you experience it as a BIG living world, sending you to all corners of the world to meet new NPCs, races, etc. and accepting quests. This doesn’t work well with the quest log limit and I completely relate to what the OP is saying. Recently I had my quest log filled with 5 maraudon quests, 5 or 6 for ZF, coupled with other random quests given in random places and then I arrived in the hinterlands. For someone that not always has time to find/make a group and do a dungeon, if I simply want to quest for a bit in a new zone I have to struggle with this stupid problem. I’m not gonna get more gratification for completion of quest Y which was picked up after quest X due to quest limit than if I was able to do them both at the same time. It’s actually quite the opposite, I love going back to a quest hub with every quest completed.
Not gonna advocate for implementing any QoL as it will not happen but QoL that removes annoyances and has zero negative impact in the game would be a plus. Another example of this is not being able to sell lower tiers of ammunition for ranged weapons, so when a hunter wants to swap from a bow to a gun, you have to individually destroy every stack of ammo from your quiver in order to be able to remove it from the bar and equip the bullet pouch.
Well written post.
Not contesting your point about the limit being a bit on the low side. I completely agree with that, and I have found it to be annoying as well.
BUT… that has also incentivized me to look at the log and see “is there anything I can complete” or “is there anything here I simply cannot complete yet?” and generally have planned my questing-routes better. I have to be more selective with what I pick up and not.
Perhaps you are playing Alliance, who have 1100+ quests in the game, compared to Horde having around 900.
I am Level 57 and have only had two times where my quest log was full.
You have to know when to pick up and drop quests. There are so many breadcrumb quests out there which lead you to an area, and only gives you like 500 exp, so you don’t have to keep all of those.
Also drop any red quests and pick them up later.
It’s really not that bad.
What I just like in classic is that it doesn’t hold your hand. You need to look for guest and use tactics.
I’m sure you don’t have 20 quests like that
