Thermal Void not showing in Cooldown Manager for some frost mages

I’ve seen mages on Youtube and through the Mage Discord that have their Thermal Void passive tracked through the in game Cooldown Manager. This is an important buff that you need to be able to see at a glance to ensure you’re not muching it by recasting flurry.

However, when I open the Cooldown Manager, Thermal Void is not shown as a buff I’m able to track. I have the talent, it procs when I’m in combat and shows in the top right of my screen - however, I’m not able to track this through the built-in tool. Needless to say, this would’lve been a simple fix with a WeakAura but you’ve taken that option away.

Can someome please explain to me why some/other/the majority of mages are able to track this important buff whilst others (I’ve seen the same question asked in the mage discord by other affected users) are not? This flies in the face of the ‘everyone on the same page’ approach promimsed by the in-game UI overhaul.

I’d really appreciate a response.

This has to be user error, there’s no reason it would work for some mages and not others

if you wanna tell me what i can try to get it to show, i’ll try it. been through the mage discord and there are several people asking the same question, while the majority just have it showing in the cooldown manager.

tried disabling all addons, renaming WTF, unspeccing thermal void to respec it, swapping specs, logging out, restarting comp. i’m not doing a fresh install for this unless i get confirmation it’ll work.

any other ideas?

Sounds like a very weird bug if it really exists - I guess you could try deleting the mage and restoring it as a desparate measure

Honestly though you don’t need to track thermal void - you always have it after casting a brain freeze flurry so it’s not like you need a reminder

Still though, definitely something blizz should fix

it’s the one thing in this incarnation of mage you actually need to track since you could generate another and munch the buff given other generators are higher prio than the spender

The only generator is a brain freeze flurry proc and spending it is top priority. That being said I do track it as I often increase my freezing stacks before I spend it but obviously don’t want it to time out. I’d be spamming tickets I suppose, that would be game breaking for me.

Escape > Options > Gameplay Enhancements > Cooldown Manager > Tick “Enable Cooldown Manager” > Advances Cooldown Settings > New windows appears > 3 Icons running down right hand side:

1 x Stopwatch
1 x Lightning Bolt
1 x Pluss

Hit the one with the “Lightning Bolt”

Tracked Buffs

Not Displayed

You have to get “Thermal Void” from “Not Displayed” into the “Tracked Buffs” part.
You can then Right click on the icon in the “Tracked Buffs” part.
Select “Add Alert” and add a sound effect so you will hear it literally every time it is available for use.
