Tier token RNG

So, last time I played WoW before this expansion was Legion. Forgive me if I am asking dumb questions but this got me confused.

Last night I did the new raid in LFR, got nothing 1st and 2nd boss but on the last boss looted a tier token. Then proceeded to roll on another token that droped for the raid from the same boss and won that too. So I walked out with 2 tokens for my warlock. Happy times.

Apparently, there is no more head/shoulder/etc tokens, but one for all - this is new to me as a returning player. No more exchanging NPCs, now tokens are usable. OK, so I “used” the token and got a pair of gloves, great. Used the second one and got the same gloves again…

My questions are :

  1. WTF
  2. Is there a way to exchange tier tokens for the pieces that I want ? Like it used to be ?
  3. Why is there RNG upon RNG upon RNG to get these tier pieces ? What possible use would I have of 2 pairs of tier gloves - there are no more spec tier sets even, it’s all one set ?
  4. Is there a way (NPC or something) to exchange that Warlock token for a token for my Warrior? Before I “use” it, of course ? Apparently my lock is super lucky with drops (not only from that raid), but my warrior is wearing scraps and always gets nothing…

Thanks for any input.

EDIT: For those late to the party, the answer is this :
Tier tokens are a combination of two types of tokens. You get tokens for specific gear slot from specific bosses and then the very last boss (which isn’t even in LFR yet) drops this curio which you can trade in for a tier item of your choosing to fill in the gaps.

Also, according to WoWhead, the specific tokens that you LOOT from the boss yourself (and not win from the raid loot with a Need roll) are Warbound - so you can trade them between your chars. Guess my warrior is f***d yet again, the first token I got from looting, so it must’ve been Warbound…

From specific bosses drops specific tier token slot
in tooltip you can read if it’s hands, head, chest, legs etc…

Only thing that works for all slots is curio but that drops from last boss…

THE END.

Oh God, so I effectively ninja-ed the one that dropped for the raid when I already looted it myself ? :frowning: If it drops the same gloves… I bet they hated me for that lol…

So that curio can be exchanged for anything you want ? Where is that NPC ?
Or use it and hope for the best ? How does that work ?

Yes you are ninja…
and i don’t know where is that vendor cause i didn’t get any curio so i will care about that when i have it xD
but i think wowhead is your friend if you want to know something like that.

I checked on wowhead before I used the tokens but it only said it is used to get a tier piece. No comments, either. So I used it … It doesn’t help that it looks generic and NOT like a pair of gloves. The name is generic too, not “Gloves of the Hateful Destroyer” or something like it used to be.

:frowning: Sorry to whoever was in that raid. The more you know… 30 Hail Mary and flagellation it is…

I found what you are looking for

Thanks. So it is a combination of the two in the end. You get tokens for specific gear slot from specific bosses and then the very last boss (which isn’t even in LFR yet) drops this curio which you can trade in for a tier item of your choosing to fill in the gaps.

I still think the specific tokens should at least have icons that resemble the slot they refer to, like gloves for glove slot, etc. I bet there will be more misunderstandings like mine in the coming weeks when people actually start getting some tokens.

Yes, you are a very rude and bad person, Pretty much everything that is wrong with the current game.

Looting both items just for “Lulz” and not even trading the second item even tho you already got 1

The “lol” is not because I enjoyed it or did it on purpose, but because there is nothing I can do about it now, can I ? From their end it probably looked exactly like I ninja-ed it and left, but I just thought I got 2 tier pieces and rushed to find a vendor to exchange them.

It’s a bad comedy, that’s what it is. I don’t know who at Blizzard decided to use generic icons for slot-specific tokens is a good idea. With generic name to boot.

What misunderstanding? Try reading the description of the item perhaps? Look in the dungeon journal to see what the bosses drop?

You not reading beyond the word “use” on the item is rather impressive tbh. Not in a good way though.

Had to find the item to show you and that was hard because of all the generic-ness in it :
Dreadful Stalwart’s Emblem
Item Level 571
Binds when picked up

Classes: Death Knight, Warlock, Demon Hunter

Use: Synthesize a soulbound Nerub-ar Palace set hand item appropriate for your class.

The icon looks like a SWORD. The name is an EMBLEM. The only clue (which I obviously missed) is in the tooltip AT THE END. One word. I had a hard time realizing there is no NPC to exchage these already, but I have to “use” the token… I messed up but they sure didn’t make it any easier for me to figure this out. I mean, I had to post in the forum to find out…

It may be obvious to you, because you are already used to it, but this is all new to me. Like, come on.

Reading is new to you?

Apparently it is to you, because my first sentance in the OP was that I came back after Legion. So yes, it is new to me. And a billion other things, still trying to wrap my head around all the changes.
