I’ve been trying to level some Alliance alts the past few weeks and noticed how incredibly long its takes to wait for a dungeon group, in parallel I’ve also been levelling some Horde alts using the same format, long story short it’s much quicker to get a dungeon group on Horde than Alliance by a large margin regardless of my preferred spec. I love the whole Timewalking format as it really takes you back to some of the best dungeons this game has to offer, but I’m finding it hard to enjoy it on Alliance due to these long queue times.
Maybe this has to do with the Horde/Alliance imbalance, but I think it’s time to bring in cross faction gameplay to supplement this issue, especially for dungeons. I don’t really care about the lore of this game so I may be a bit biased here.
For normal and heroic dungeons, it’s not too bad. M+, especially past 15? I mean, when of every single +2 (+2!) key completed, 65% are horde, that’s bad. +10s? 68% horde. KSM? 70%. The higher you go, the less alliance there is. At 2800 M+ rating, there’s 99% horde. While that’s very top-end, indeed, and people usually don’t pug there, they still often do at 2200: 73% of players with rating between 2.2k and 2.4k are horde.
That’s a massive, massive imbalance, and it shows in the amount of keys on the LFD tool, too.
I do care, but making instanced content cross faction doesn’t have to be lore breaking whatsoever. People can have their character changed (cosmetically and in name only) to their horde or alliance equivalent while they’re doing instanced content with the other faction. The queue and LFG systems would be the biggest thing to change.
thats odd, i have plenty of both alliance and horde and have noticed absolutely zero difference in the time it takes for a dungeon to pop.
Maybe your observations are based on the times you do alliance/horde or the spec you play on either side.
dont mind about mixing factions, quite like the idea, but at the moment i see absolutely zero difference in queue times.
i dont do high level mythic content, so maybe thats what youre talking about?
Honestly I’m so fed up, there’s barely any key available above 18 on Alliance side and they still make you wait in queue for ages without ever inviting for no reason.
I tried on 3 characters, 2370rio shaman, 2315rio war and 2300rio mage, can’t get a single invite for 19/20s after 45 minutes.
Even if they need a specific covenant or BL or whatever I change character, still can’t get an invite.
Who do I have to pay to get an invite seriously?
I wish, nobody is queueing or they don’t have the experience, my last two keys were depleted and this week I got the same key twice on two characters that don’t need to time it so I’m left just praying somebody invites me.
They don’t invite people that’s the thing, I’ve seen a warlock literally for 30 minutes in LFG for mists 19, I tried on all my characters, he never invited a single person and he’s not the only one doing that.
I don’t think you realize how bad the Alliance LFG is right now for M+.
Well, i searched for friends in communities. So i am not depended on LFG. I suppose it is not a specific alliance behaviour of people putting up keys in LFG and never invite anyone ever. I also do not think that is something blizzard can fix.
Cross-faction play is not lore breaking, because the lore is full of cases where members of opposite factions team up. Case in point, a beautiful rendition of it: the MoP cinematic. Two random, nameless, low-rank soldiers going at each other’s throat, on a whim, deciding to face a common obstacle together. Then they likely went back at each other after having their bums handed to them by Chen.
That’s pretty much how cross faction play for players would work too. We won’t suddenly become BFFs. We’d still be enemies - we’d just strike a temporary truce for the Greater Loot I mean good, greater good. Obviously.
(Also see all the neutral factions sporting races of both factions, like the Earthen Ring, the Argent Dawn, Argent Crusade, Ebon Blade, Cenarion Circle, just to name a few.)
