Yup. Also see BfA ending, or Shadowlands. But there’s a big difference between all that and the MoP cinematic: in the MoP cinematic, two nobodies band up. It’s not a big, organized, faction-wide thing. It’s a temporary truce on a whim. Wrathgate, Broken Shore, WoD, TBC, etc - they weren’t. They were all organized, leaders involved and all that. The two soldiers in the MoP cinematic? None of that. Just a short, temporary truce for a common goal.
That is what cross-faction play is. It’s not a big, overarching thing, at least, doesn’t have to be. All we need is to be able to do the same as two random nameless soldiers in the MoP cinematic did: opt to team up with the other faction for a short while. There doesn’t need to be more than that.
I wouldn’t mind if there would be more to it, if we could have cross-faction guilds, but just being able to play together temporarily would be a huge leap forward as it is.
No.
The game’s core faction vs faction. The workd is desogned for it.
This change, because it takes a little long to make a group, will damage the game greatly in long run.
Sometimes, things that seem trivial (and you request is not at all) are much more impacrful than originally believed.
Why will it be damaging though? It could be positive.
Better to try than continue to let things stagnate.
I know if I could actually play with my friends without us having to pay for services to change factions, we’d be happier.
(I’m thinking of instance PvE here, not general open world)
Alliance community is also really bad and are afraid of pugs. All the best players run with same team and are afraid to pug for some reason while in Horde I have had people with 2.8k rio join my +17 pug.
Lore can be fudged to be whatever they want it to be, as they’ve shown countless times.
I would rename Warmode to Truce-mode. In Truce-mode mobs in the open world aren’t Faction tagged grey.
Cross faction can happen for dungeons. Maybe even for grouping in open world.
They may need to be limits on how often you can swap, like once a day or something.
I applied for a key the other day to get KSM to someone in my guild. Then I actually checked his raider.io, there’s no way he had a key at that level, it would have downgraded from inactivity because his last done key was the same level but several weeks ago. He had just put it up in LFG just to have it up there because reasons.
I think some people are just listing a group for a key they don’t actually have. Probably trolling.
Would love to play a lot of Alliance races but can’t cause all the people I know are horde and I don’t want to isolate myself in a dead faction and bring completely unable to play with them unless I make another character.
There is no need for “lore reasons”, adventurers bond would simply go beyond the faction difference.
Even freaking New World, which is a PvP game at heart let you Group up and Talk freely between faction if you have PvP Disable.
I’d love for my priest to be nelf, a warrior to be nelf, my shaman would stay troll, my paladin would be lightforged draenei, my rogue would be night elf, my hunter would be night elf etc.
