Timewalking Tank Hell

Hey Tanks,
If you’re going to brainlessly HURR DURR your way to the other end of the Timewalking dungeon, can you AT LEAST get and hold agro on everything?
(In the specific case I’m talking about) I’m a slow Shadow Priest; I need to cast spells but I can’t do that when I’m busy playing “Running Simulator” trying to catch up to you while half the trash mobs are chewing on my face because you didn’t bother to pick them up.

If you’re on an ego trip and you want to speedrun, fine. But at least do the role you queued for so the rest of us can do ours.

That one courtesy — that’s all I’m asking.
It’s bad enough I’m forced to watch YOU play the game while I could just as well be AFK, but I’m tired of dying because you people can’t just, you know, TANK, anything.
THEN, when I call you out for not doing your job, I get nothing but toxicity back; how about you just play like a NORMAL person and I won’t say anything?! Why isn’t you NOT trying to outdo Leeroy an option, huh?

Thank You.

The only reason trash mobs will chew on your face is if you hit them.

Have you tried not hitting them? They’ll die anyway, they don’t need you to plant your feet and painstakingly do your pve rotation for that to happen.

You have 3 feathers and PWS and fade. Use them. Then dps when you know the tank has stopped.

Not getting aggro is a dps job.
When you see, that the tank is out of range for the mobs, for WHATEVER reason and the threat meter tells you, that you are closing in on that 100% and you keep attacking that target, that’s absolutely and 100% on you.

If DPS aggroes while I am gathering pull, it is not my problem. The theory says DPS starts when tank finishes gathering.

I am not going to be spicy, that is inappropriate therefore the edit.

Yeah well we were fighting Hadronox and I got turned into paste by everything around the boss that Void Crash hit so…

“Have you tried not playing the game” is what you might as well have said… like I pay my sub every month to do TW every other week and watch the tank hurr durr through the dungeons, right?

IT’S YOUR JOB. YOU HAVE ONE JOB AND THAT’S TO TAKE AGRO OFF PEOPLE AND TO KEEP IT.
I know that when I’m tanking, I’m watching for ANYTHING that could or does agro on anyone else and I pull it off them. That’s what a GOOD tank does.

Problem is there are all kinds of random casters or abilities that do unavoidable damage. So people, not in the last place the healer, need to press buttons.

And so why can’t the tank sticking with his group not be an option, huh?
Why is it ALWAYS up to everyone else to just afk while on auto run because the tank can’t just be normal?

Agree, that is why best approach is to stay as close to tank as possible.

Exactly, and if a cast needs to be made, that not only sets them further behind, but because everyone is probably on auto-run trying to catch the tank, it’s likely to be missed.

I am sorry but I am using different strategy for the goal, then.

Hard to do that when it’s a DH tank because those guys get off on their mobility.

Well, I am Protection Paladin and was Blood DK for 10 years before. Concept of fast movement is foreign to me :grinning: so I can’t help, sadly.

Also, personally I think it is more efficient to have healer in DPS spec since in TW and other trivial content I can heal the group myself when tanking

Well the problem is that TW is badly tuned and designed.
I think it should be as close to the original as possible; hell SWTOR does it; it scales you down to the appropriate level depending on zones; you can still overpower the zone, but if you’re careless you’ll die, so I don’t understand why WoW can’t.

If I am correct, it was set previously that it scaled down the characters to the decided level per Timewalking event.

However, I remember that there was problem that I, as tank, was immortal when scaled down while the other roles were not, so I basically soloed the whole TW back in the day. I remember receiving complaints when I was not pulling one pull per boss.

So the question is, what is better. I don’t know the correct answer. One way or another, we tanks are immortal in trivial content. And I like it very much I have to say.

It has nothing to do with ego, its timewalking its irrelevant tbh. And how faster its done the better

These times are long gone. A tank not holding aggro is actively avoiding to get aggro.
Just body pull and run dosnt work.
