Yo! So I haven’t played rogue in a couple of years, last time I played it was combat spec and not Outlaw. But I loved combat spec back in the day so I thought I try outlaw now and looked at some guides and tried it and…
What in the gasoline inhaling me*h snorting hell even is this?! It’s like 5-6 or something abillitys that has 30 sec to 1 minute CD that has to be kept up at all times and then it’s pistol procs and the longer CDs that also needs to be active?
The last time I played combat it was just SS spam and keep up slice and dice, this is just too much? How do you handle everything?
Outlaw is one of the busiest Specs in the game, it probably has the highest APM in the game. It takes a bit getting used to, nothing that a few sessions on a Target Dummy can’t fix, to get it in muscle memory.
Another option is to switch to Assassination, which is much more laidback, when it comes to the tempo. Worth noting, no Spec in game is as simple, as Combat was back in the day.
I really miss the combat rogue. I loved the rogue because the playstyle was very relaxed. All those RNG and CDs ruined this aspect. Also over the years I’ve build my own identity for my rogue. I didn’t need Blizzard to dictate an identity for me. Especially since I’ve never been into pirates and I don’t really want to play one.
I lately tried to play Shadowlands, but it feels like a completely different game now. I never liked playing alts, I didn’t even like the other rogue speccs. Combat fit my playstyle just perfectly, but the outlaw rogue is an abomination I can’t get used to and I don’t even want to get used to.
I am still hoping Blizzard will one day revert the class changes from Legion, but I guess this won’t happen. So all I’ve got to do now, is wait for WotLK and play the good old combat rogue at it’s prime.
I leveled my Rogue to 60 using Sub, then took a break. When I came back at late 9.1, some weeks before 9.2, I initially came back as an Assassin, but my god, the rotation was so simple that I was bored to tears.
Outlaw with its many buttons was just the type of minor challenge and complexity that I enjoyed.
So it really just falls to personal preferences. Being nostalgic of the old Outlaw is fine, but times change. If you seek a simplistic spec to play, Assassination got you covered.
Real big problem is the buff management. You lose precious seconds to press RtB, SnD, BtE, Curseblades. In these seconds any class can kill you or escape from you. Again, Blizz class imbalance.
Not enough to do as outlaw if you ask me, its tedious how I have energy down time or no proper debuff to maintain since 90% of the time you have to use RTB due to dud buffs, slice and dice most of the time requires the least management as this spec due to grand melee being a frequent proc. Between the eyes is part of rotation if you use a specific lego which is mostly ideal for PVP more than PVE
