Undocumented frost nerf

For those that missed it, Frozen Orb duration was stealth nerfed to 10 seconds (12 from everlasting Frost) on live servers, with no notes to go along with it. This was not announced in any patch notes, but essentially shortens the duration on Orb more the further it is cast from the target; from 40 yards away, it will result in 21 ticks instead of 24.

So now the questions for Blizzard now are:

  1. Why make a change that pushes a ranged class into melee?
  2. Is a frost AoE nerf really warranted when the AoE is literally the spec’s weakness?
  3. If yes, why would you not document it? Are you kidding me?
  4. If you’re looking at Frozen Orb how could you possibly miss fixing the Freezing Winds bug that has literally been a thing since Legion?

Because

  1. They don’t give a redacted about our class.
  2. They for sure don’t give a redacted about our class.
  3. Its obvious, they don’t, give a redacted.
  4. And they certainly don’t give a redacted about your or me.

Testing on a dummy, it went as low as 19 ticks for me (talented, PvP not active).

Definitely not what I would expect from the spell. I think it should have a fixed duration with the number of ticks increased by haste. I think travel time is debatable, but if Blizzard wants to be nice, they should count the duration from the first hit and not from the cast. With concentrated coolness, definitely count the duration from the cast success.

Number of ticks on fixed duration modified by haste is a good shot here and i am thinking the same. If haste affect number of ticks on warlock dots but does not modify duration of it we can expect this will goes same in frozen orb case. So the higher haste the more ticks you will recive in same duration
