TIL I could choose the dragon I wanted for the Kalimdor races by talking to the little whelp.
For some reason it took me until this event to realize the fire orb pillars have elementals at the bottom that create them.

Agree. The races by themselves are great, however, some are really impossible with the speed and trees in the way that you can not avoid. Absolutely not saying it has to be easy, by all means no, but I do get the feelings that not all of the races were tested properly.
So here is the answer for those that wanted to ask the question or forgot to ask the question⌠âCan I repeat one of the quicker Kalimdor Races to farm the Riders of Azeroth Badges?â.
No, sadly, you canât. I tried it by completing a quick race on Gold and got nothing for it.
This means, that you are basically forced to have alts, that can enter the races as well if you want to complete a full set of the transmogs or even get the dragon appearances. If you can complete both the Advanced and Reverse races on Gold though. Sadly, because of my ping, I can only manage Bronze on the Advanced and Reverse races, so I miss out on many of the badge rewards as I can only complete the basic race on Gold. I can get 5 badges per race in total, and 80 badges in total for all the races.
I wonder if devs ever tried doing these sadistic races themselves before even thinking of releasing it as it is now or are they still out of sync with their own community? I guess we still have devs that donât even play the game or its content, so they wonât ever know what hardships the players face.
Anyway⌠So in order for you to get every item from this sadistic event, you will need:

Dragon Appearances - 2x characters to clear all races.

Plate Transmog Set - 2x Plate characters to clear all races.

Mail Transmog Set - 2x Mail characters to clear all races.

Leather Transmog Set - 2x Leather characters to clear all races.

Cloth Transmog Set - 2x Cloth characters to clear all races.
You need 10x characters in total to collect everything from this event.

The transmog set isnât armour type specific, itâs just an appearance set that can be used by all armour types. You need 240 tokens to buy everything, not 700.
Also you forgot the 10 from doing the intro quest, so you can get 90.

Most are pretty doable. There are only a few that can be considered hard and even then they held me there for only 30 min each. Hardly sadistic. These should not be entirely faceroll, they are called advanced for a reason.

Yeah it was very fun. Finished all as well, and I enjoyed it a lot. The difficulty is nice, but sometimes there is weird texture that makes you stuck⌠It also showed me a lot of beautiful spots in kalimdor that I havenât seen before.

Getting 5-10 seconds ahead of the gold criteria for all of them, you need to utilize Skyward Ascend doing a dolphin motion going up then down to keep yourself at high momentum at all times with Forward surges for the short gapped gates.
Getting the Dragon Rider addon or a WA to keep tabs of your speed and vigor regen threshold really helps a lot where prior youâd think youâre going fast already when you could be going faster.
Itâs almost over now, and I find the Wowhead numbers interesting.
We always have to be cautious about Wowhead numbers. While I believe they are accurate on the sample they have, their sample is skewed in a couple of ways. For a start, casuals are less likely to have a Wowhead account, so that will skew the numbers towards being more hardcore. Also, they include some Wowhead members who havenât even played this expansion or this patch because theyâre away, so you want to divide by the fraction of level 70s (0.89). There are other considerations one might use to model the expected skew.
However, the numbers here are so surprisingly small that these factors are not major.
As of right now, with 2 days left, we see
6% having completed the lowest achievement Kalimdor: Bronze
3% having completed the highest achievement Kalimdor Racing Completionist: Gold
Those are pretty low numbers. Maybe Wowhead hasnât caught up(?) but I would have expected a range like 20%-40%.
Well, I think itâs just not a feature that was exciting to most people.
I liked it, but it was a small thing - a small commitment from Blizzard, a small reward, and a small pool of players who wanted to do it.
Which is all fine. I really donât have a problem with any of this.

The achievements donât reward anything.
I can of course only speak for myself, but I couldnât care less about achievements.
Theyâre meaningless to me. If an achievement rewards something I like, thatâs the one and only reason why I would go for it.
Also: I donât like dragon races. I did them for the rewards and I did the minimum I needed to do to get what I wanted.
You get the achievements passively if you do the thing you need to do to get the transmog rewards though.
Not if, like me, you spread the races across a few alts (I just did 1 alt, but you could get it even easier by using more of them).

Some of the difficulties are a wee bit too high, I have Gold in ALL Races throughout DF bat Anâquiraj, i just shy by .0481 on both reverse and advance for gold, Iâve given up as my fingers got sore by the end of it, damn you osteoporosis

I⌠suppose. Donât see any reason to do that though? Other than the fact that you need two. Do you just log into a random character each day and randomly fancy some dragonraces?
In any case, I doubt thatâs common.
No; it means you can do a selection of the easier races and just do them on bronze or silver and get enough coins to buy what you want (each alt also gets the quest; which is another 10 easy coins).

Usually I agree, for sure!
With this event though it turned out to be a boon; because I donât enjoy it, I got to do it in an easier way that didnât irritate me as much. 
But the point was; perhaps lots of people did that. Lots of people tend to take the easy route.

You win Blizz, I give up, the only race in the game I canât beat is AnâQuiraj, I have Gold in all other Dragon races but I just cannot do this one and my little finger broke trying continuously for 4 days to do this, Thanks
