the only reason they don’t is because people like Brohn and perhaps yourself continue to buy them up with the subs…
it makes them money the way they do it now…
if people stopped buying them that way MAYBE we would get them in game activities instead…
but people are their own worse enemy …
and they cannot see the damage they themselves do to this game by falling for these promotions.

I disagree. I purchase 6 months because I know I’ll play for 6 months frequently, I upgraded to 12 because I know I’ll play for 12 frequently.
If they never added these mounts to the 6 month sub or now 12 month sub I wouldn’t have any. The reason I go into these “promotions” is because I know I’ll play for the time I’m subscribed for and it saves me more money in the long run.
I’d do them a favor if I bought 1 month subs 12x since at the end it would cost me more.
I think people don’t see past the promotions of 6+ month subs and forget you save money by going for it.
Only if you ofcourse see yourself playing for the time you subscribe too. If you purchase 6 months and know you’ll only play for half of that just because you want the promotions then I think that’s the most foolish thing I can imagine.
yea the reason you do it is not my interest … really it’s your choice to do with your money as you please…
i can say its not really the right choice for the future of this game though… and will only inspire them to continue these methods in the future.
…
the way i see it this is 3 new mounts… which could of been added to the new expansion which is due out this month… but instead because it gets people to sub longer…
they removed them as content from the game and made a crappy promotion out of them for those silly enough to buy into it…
it is not a good look for neither the people who buy into it… or the company behind it…
and it definitely is not a promising look for the future of DF if they are already resulting to these tactics…
it hints at the fact DF is not selling as well as they’d like.

If this was dragonflight exclusive how come they’ve had store mounts since 2010. That’s 12 years. I’d say it’s doomer talk to say their prediction of Dragonflight has anything to do with them adding another store mount.
Whether the expansion is predicted to do amazing or not they will likely continue doing store mounts, not because of the people who do 6 month subs but because of the people who buy them directly from the store.
it might not be a exclusive… but timing is everything… and this is a obvious ploy as mentioned by others… to boost subscription numbers… to bolster their portfolio when they show it off next year with DF active subs…
its all false numbers…
it wont show the sudden spike in subs before the expansion launched linked to any promotion …
it will just show DF and a big spike…
i think EU sub numbers especially are at a all time low right now…
i can’t see there being more than 500k active accounts …
Yes, you are right and this is not abnormal for companies especially not game developers to do. Again the issue is the people buying into it when they don’t plan to make use of the subscription they buy. Not the people who bought it in preparation of playing that full duration.
Shadowlands was predicted to be a great expansion and they still did a 6 month sub right before it launched. Let’s not assume this is again Dragonflight specific. Or some plan because they forsee Dragonflight to flop.
im also part of the problem… i am a active sub i add to their numbers…
despite not playing the game for nearly 2 years.
Don’t get me wrong I understand what people say, yes they do this to “lock” people into a subscription. But honestly who is to blame, people who buy things they aren’t gonna use or the company that offers it.
If Blizzard would only offer 12 months or only 6 months I would agree with the uproar, however to say this is a bad look for a company is very strange to me since nobody should go into any subscription they aren’t planning to fully use, especially not for promotional items. And this is not something that is forced by Blizzard as there are plenty of other durations available.

i will say the fact it was 6 months in shadowlands and 12 months in dragonflight…
goes well with blizzard tend to cut back on content each expansion until people can’t take the droughts…
i think the droughts will be double in length in this expansion…
just wait and see.

I believe they had two reasons, they saw that the people who have 6 month subs actively keep their sub running indefinitely for whatever reason they see fit and saw that as an opportunity to give people to option to sub for a year.
Whilst also being able to “secure” a years worth of sub, it’d be foolish to think this isn’t another reason.
Again, I doubt this isn’t aimed at majorily 6 month users because if people didn’t go 6 months with the previous promotions they likely won’t go 12 months with the extra’s ontop.
Mounts which will be largely useless because we’re going to be ‘forced’ to use those ugly dragon-y things to ‘dragonride’ on.
I have 6 years of gametime from wow tokens, why do I not get these rewards?
12 months will be a big step for even most 6 month active users i should think…
especially after the last expansion…
i think or rather i hope most people… will at least wait and see if the expansion is worth a year before making that decision…
ofc there will be people who wont wait and do it regardless…
and it is their choice to do so… i just hope they find enough things to do for 12 months and dont end up finding themselves stranded with 6 months of sub left when everyone is quitting.
I’d imagine so. I’d implore anyone to dodge this if they aren’t sure if they’ll play.
open alpha starts soon, final patch of DF it is fixed.
great milkshake as always iam wonder for how long can cow be milked until no1 is interesting
I just bought 6 months a few days ago, and I feel a bit annoyed that I can’t even just add another 6 to sub.
Cheap tricks Blizzard
Why 12 months are not even a few euros cheaper?

nope, only a recurring sub.
You can buy a sub, and then extend it with tokens, but you can’t cancel it for even a day.
Got mine, thanks for the free mounts!

I may have considered buying a 12 month sub if the monthly cost wasn’t the same as the 6 month one.
