If the mount/quest was only available from the heroic or epic only mount then that insinuates that the quest is for those purchases only and is locked to those bundle purchases.
Again if they knew the basic was able to gain this quest they should have stipulated this in the advertisement ‘this is what you get with this purchase’ via a line of text that states something like:
Basic:
‘shadowlands expansion and the ability to gain a new transmog set via the heroic or epic bundle mount’
not the one they gave:
They left this information out and i would class it as important information considering people would be more inclined to buy the heroic version as it included the transmog.
I think the quest shouldn’t be obtainable by any means for those who bought or buy the Basic Edition.
Call me selfish if you must (metaphorically you) but it shouldn’t be the case.
I think they shouldn’t have made this post to begging with. With this kind of posts try to appear understandable and empathic with their costumers but then they use ‘morally wrong’ market and selling strategies.
They should have deliver a better product for those who -willingly- payed more. I payed for a transmog and still can’t see it on my characters armory since the day I got it.
Although I still think it’s not false advertisement, I don’t agree with their decision.

As I said before, technically you can get it but in theory you can’t because you are not able to get the quest without having someone with the mount.
They can compensate this easily by giving a black recolour of Eternal Traveler Set.
This way people who payed more won’t feel like scammed and Blizz gonna look like a generous trustworty company instead of a liar
Please leave that theory behind because it sounds stupid. I’m gonna summon my mount before going afk on Boralus from now on, considering there are other people willing to do such things… People don’t need friends to get the quest. Your theory could’ve been accurate if this was a single player game but you are theorizing about an MMORPG.
You can’t ask them to do that, actually you can’t ask them to do more than ”Ups, we were mistaken. You can get X even if you payed more and we can’t remove it because reasons”. It’s an American Company after all.
I’ve never said I was smart, that’s what I think and I’m not changing my mind.
If you want to AFK and let others get the transmog, fair enough. You can do whatever you want.
I only bought the heroic version for the transmog, if i knew i could get it off someon else’s mount i’d stick to the basic version so yeah, feel kinda tricked by that and would love to get something to compensate for this.
My suspicion is, that it’s a bug, but too many people already got the mog before Blizzard realized. So, the most painless decision from a business point of view was to pretend that it was supposed to be like that.
The grind for the tmog was already really lame on blizzards side + the tmog bugs on the site / can bug if you get a dc and show then as a missing texture + the illusion from the epic version is STILL bugged (illusion vanishes if you use certain abillities like dash from DH) which is the most annoying in all of this.
And now this… blizzard is really spitting us in the face for buying shadowlands. Lesson learned to never buy an xpac again until I have heard even smallest detail (and how many bugs are included in the “rewards”)
Agreed. They haven’t fixed any of the goodies in months. It’s unacceptable to say at least.
Edit: I haven’t seen anyone complain so far, seemed odd.
I thought it was my game or my character but then I realized every goodie had bugs.
I don’t know where to post this issue though.
I already used the bug-report system (also called “write us something we can ignore”) like nearly 2 months ago (and probably many other people) for the illusion bug but still not fixed (checked last week?). On top of that there will be another illusion similiar to this one in 8.3 ( if I am not mistaken) which will probably be bugged as well.
And yes if a goodie isn’t bugged it isn’t from blizzard… or the bug is the reward and we get a goodie on top?
so yeah, feel kinda tricked by that and would love to get something to compensate for this.
