How many GM’s does it take to change a light-bulb?
None, its working as intended.

I have never heard of them refunding after a boost has been used. But if anyone wants to try you will need to contact support
how is that different from telling people that their hard earned essences or gear is now borderline free? Or once unique mount model is given to some common drop from some “rare”?
Hc still has boost, mount itself and easy access to quest dude. Description is indeed misleading tho. All this fuss about is haters gonna hate case.
Was Blizzard acting in their best interest by not mentioning this earlier? Sure.
Are many posters in this thread incredibly toxic and rude towards even just people like Thyvene who is just doing his/her job? You betcha.
Go take a look in the mirror people. You’re far from perfect yourself, so get out of here with that misplaced righteous indignation.
Because the essences / gear are prone to be replaced anyway, that is basically part of this game.
With a new expansion or patch or whatever may be the case.
The transmog / mount debacle is just a totally different scenario.
People who pre-order (i even paid for mine 3 days ago just before the transmog stuff became known / also for the other rewards) and paid for the transmog and if you only care about said transmog you could have done it without paying for the HC or Epic edition.
Who doesnt wanna drive a brand new car with all options without paying for said options.
And since you can still get Digital deluxe upgrades of BFA atm and gain the mount / pet if you wish, the same would be the case for Shadowlands.
Just putting the transmog into the higher versions gave those versions the value you paid for, even tho there is a mount / boost or pet / playtime attached to the other 2 versions.
The basic version is just that, it is the game and thats it. Without any extra rewards for WoW or any other Blizzard game.
Like i said already in my post earlier, they didnt have any proper solution no matter what the cause was.
Down the line, they couldnt have handled it in any other way simply because of the damage or outcome we already have.
My personal opinion remains that it wasnt intended and was HC / Epic editions only but due to the community discovering you dont need any of those editions they went about it and made a post that it is the ‘‘intended’’ way.
Me and a few others will put up mounts during the weekend in LFG stating were we are so you can get your mog quests if you have the basic version only. I think Dhoobs will do horde and i will cover alliance this evening.
everything gets replaced one way or another, gear, games, humans themselves, even our planet will be absorbed into the Sun some day. When it happens matters. Blizz set 100k honor or exalted with mechagnomes for r3 and say essences are going to be long term goal (to the end of expansion). Should i demand refund for time wasted farming honor or rep on all my chars just in case i will play some of them in s4?
Not really, blizz scummed owners of tsg raptor adding its duplicate in primal egg the same way they scummed those who farmed essences or bought hc edition. But since you are hypocrite, scum is only something that harms you yourself while everything else is “making things better with no one getting hurt in process”
I will cover my AFK stuff on horde side / alliance side if i am around.
Be that on Auchindoun tho
Yet Transmog is used ever since it was possible and people mog tier 1 still, might aswell happen to the Shadowlands armor to be transmogged till eternity or wow xpac 25.
I bought the Epic edition and i am fine with people getting it from my mount if they own the basic edition, i would have gotten the epic edition anyway.
But if you shelled out the cash or gold to get the HC edition just for the transmog and you could have saved said cash or gold i would be pissed too.
TCG vs Primal egg and all other related TCG things:
The raptor from TCG still holds its value vs the egg one, since they are slightly different and even have different names if i am correct.
Almost any cosmetic item has a either a recolor or different option to be acquired from somewhere, some are just requiring a big amount of gold. (mechagon HM + Exalted mount anyone?)
And that list is really long, so unique looks and rarity in certain areas are long gone.
It has nothing to do with being hypocrite.
They screwed up with the HC / Epic edition and the discussed transmog.
(which is cosmetic only)
Where as essences are only cosmetic on rank 4 and till then, they are a significant increase in player power.
But there is another topic for that discussion, and there are some people who still dont get the idea or message being conveyed in those topics which is fine.
Edit: How about all the Spectral mounts we had, after the spectral tigers turned out to be so popular. Think we currently have around 5-7 spectral mounts excluding the tigers.
This is clear violation of the EU Directive DIRECTIVE 2005/29/EC OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL also known as Unfair Commercial Practices Directive.
Under Chapter 2, Section 1, Article 6:
Misleading actions
- A commercial practice shall be regarded as misleading if it contains false information and is therefore untruthful or in any way, including overall presentation, deceives or is likely to deceive the average consumer, even if the information is factually correct, in relation to one or more of the following elements, and in either case causes or is likely to cause him to take a transactional decision that he would not have taken otherwise:
(a)
the existence or nature of the product;(b)
the main characteristics of the product, such as its availability, benefits, risks, execution, composition, accessories, after-sale customer assistance and complaint handling, method and date of manufacture or provision, delivery, fitness for purpose, usage, quantity, specification, geographical or commercial origin or the results to be expected from its use, or the results and material features of tests or checks carried out on the product;(c )
the extent of the trader’s commitments, the motives for the commercial practice and the nature of the sales process, any statement or symbol in relation to direct or indirect sponsorship or approval of the trader or the product;(d)
the price or the manner in which the price is calculated, or the existence of a specific price advantage;(e)
the need for a service, part, replacement or repair;(f)
the nature, attributes and rights of the trader or his agent, such as his identity and assets, his qualifications, status, approval, affiliation or connection and ownership of industrial, commercial or intellectual property rights or his awards and distinctions;(g)
the consumer’s rights, including the right to replacement or reimbursement under Directive 1999/44/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 25 May 1999 on certain aspects of the sale of consumer goods and associated guarantees (8), or the risks he may face.
- A commercial practice shall also be regarded as misleading if, in its factual context, taking account of all its features and circumstances, it causes or is likely to cause the average consumer to take a transactional decision that he would not have taken otherwise, and it involves:
(a)
any marketing of a product, including comparative advertising, which creates confusion with any products, trade marks, trade names or other distinguishing marks of a competitor;(b)
non-compliance by the trader with commitments contained in codes of conduct by which the trader has undertaken to be bound, where:(i)
the commitment is not aspirational but is firm and is capable of being verified, and
(ii)
the trader indicates in a commercial practice that he is bound by the code.
Unfortunately I’m not able to provide a link, but you can read it by Googling the following:
Directive 2005/29/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council
I expect Blizzard to take this into consideration and properly compensate any customer (atleast within the EU) who bought the Heroic or Epic because of Blizzard’s and Activision’s dishonest sales methods.
Edit: What some people seem to overlook, is the fact that by law it does not matter if Blizzard/Activition intended to fool the customer with the advertisement material on the store. Even if they didn’t mean to be dishonest - what matter by law, is how the customer will see it.
Why does the base edition not show the transmog then? If it is a feature that you get access to why would it not be shown or addressed where you buy it?
Includes a pre-purchase* of World of Warcraft®: Shadowlands and early access to Death Knights for Allied Races and Pandaren starting with the Visions of N’Zoth content update.
Includes everything in the Base Edition, plus instant access to a Level 120 Character Boost and the Ensorcelled Everwyrm flying mount. The flying mount grants a quest for the Vestments of the Eternal Traveler transmog set.
This is close to false advertising
Because like most of us posted in here:
It looks to be a bug or unintended way to obtain the transmog set, and after people posting on the official forums you could get the set when just bought the basic upgrade and then hit up a friend or guildie with the mount you could start the quest regardless.
That they didnt change the text on the Shadowlands pre-purchase really hints towards a:
We screwed up and this is the only way to fix it.
Because i really think it was never intended to work like it currently does / will

Used my boost, got the refund, now the character is locked till I buy a new one. Guess it’s not that common, but worked for me at least.
How is your locked character only 110 when that boost was 120 boost? Or are you talking about earlier refund not Shadowlands refund?
Yeah this was the BfA boost so if you’re suggesting that it doesn’t work anymore then maybe. All I know is they have refunded you after using the boost.
I wonder now, if Blizzard intends to update the shop page. Will they ever, or are their future customers suppose to keep up with the forums. Specifically, are they suppose to be aware of a forum post that will soon be buried? As long as the shop descriptions doesn’t change, people will continue to be misled.
If it truly wasnt a bug, it would have been on the product page since day 1.
The fact they posted: this is not a bug doesnt say enough for me.
Because if it was intended all along, you want people to know that all along so people can make a well informed decision in pre-purchasing the new expansion.
I wasn’t thinking if whether it works or not, more like was thinking first they accidentaly locked wrong character from you.
This is speculation on your part. Thyvene didn’t come up with this post. This is the statement that Blizzard, as a Company, decided to put out. Blizzard is telling us this is not a bug, and honestly you have no basis to contradict them. This is intended design and it wasn’t communicated to the their customers at the time they were deciding which version to buy.
Well, thats why i posted before: in my opinion this isnt a bug but being put out here as a bug.
But i guess you didnt read that post at all.
It doesnt make any sense to take a risk by not putting it into the marketing / shop description because they risk losing customers and are also going to be busy with refunding the money paid by people.
A new pre-order isnt handled like: ow lets just see what happens if we announce any details about the transmog way later than the pre-order window opened.
Here is what i posted: (i would recommend reading the whole post to see what kind of options Blizzard had / has in regards of this whole decision / mistake)
