When a blacksmith’s sword can be out-matched by an enchanted +1 damage sword, which in turn can be out-matched by a magical sword that can hurl an occasional fire ball, then your lore fine. (Consider that a gameplay example that can be translated to any general lore in game loot)
When a powerful Dragon can be defeated through the combination of steel, courage and magic by a group of weak individuals that shine through the heroic actions of coming together in a group, then your lore is fine.
When Demons threaten your world, and all races come together and combine their strengths to over-come their individual weaknesses and differences to achieve victory through sacrifice, loss and a terrible aftermath, then your lore is fine.
When even magic, and courage, and steel are not enough for an entire race and their Kingdom to prevent their ultimate destruction, because they were out-smarted and over-powered, then your lore is fine.
When two great warriors and strategists of the past return from space as beings with super powers that can grant them victory over their enemies, rather than knowledge and combat experience, then your lore is not fine.
When you get super angry and get back eyes and super celestial powers and can now achieve victory over your enemies, then your lore is not fine.
When the exceptional notions and powers over life, death and undeath can be constantly and casually toyed with, then your lore is not fine.
When dark and/vs light is not enough and darkest and/vs “lightest” (excuse the loose use of the word) is constantly too little, then your lore is not fine.
And so on…
We have caught ourselves in a never-ending loop, a vicious cycle, of over-empowerment and over-stimulation of lore (and game) progression and ideas. It is my belief that we need to tone things down and catch our breath. I am interested in your opinions on the matter.
